I used to LOVE Medium. It has been a godsend for learning specific web development concepts through their software developer writers' walkthrough demos. Today, I'm halfway through setting up a walkthrough on my computer and I get Medium's all too frequent message these days: "To keep reading this story, create a free account." This is disgusting. I just wasted over half an hour on an article I apparently can longer read. (How can you give me access to an article and then suddenly decide half way through my reading it that I have to now pay for access??) This blatantly obvious and overly-aggressive push for monetizing off their readers is getting out of control. From now on I will sadly be going Out of my way to avoid Medium articles and find reference material elsewhere. (Cannot believe I am even saying this - was such a huge fan of this group.) Such a shame for what seemed like was a good-natured company with integrity to take a turn like this...

Ridiculous monetization techniques. They push you to sign up, and then they limit articles that you can read. If you just logout, you have unlimited access. This was bearable, but not less ridiculous. Then I found an article about current corona virus pandemic, that was LOCKED for guests, and also counted towards the article quota if you're member. Just disgusting.

Customer service does not respond to customer tickets although you receive an automated response to say that you'll be responded to (whenever). Also, if you choose to put your writing behind their pay wall - the only payment you will receive is equivalent to the number of followers you have on their platform and then this is also determined by the number of claps you receive. In this case, you will not be found easily unless publishers on the platform choose your article for their medium publication. If you have 10 followers, you may get 10 views/reads and no guarantee of "claps" (earnings). If you pay for membership - I don't know if this helps you as a writer on their platform. I wouldn't encourage anyone to exploit themselves or their passion of writing.

I do not know what these people have in mind! Why not put a normal password login? Why trying to be different? This login through email is a pain! Stop trying to be different and just put the normal login on the website. Every time is the same struggle to log in to this platform, which is becoming worse every day. REALLY ANNOYING! Stop with this blablabla "...password are not safe..."

Medium.com is a right wing scam. They push out cleverly written pro Trump propaganda and then immediately censor any comments that point out flaws and propagandistic content.

The writer cannot spell and he lists he has a Phd, also not spelled correctly. Something is wrong here, it smells like Nigeria.
