This company has a predatory business model. On the surface, it looks like the lottery but with zero transparency. Don't be fooled by how the site looks, the promises it makes, or the supportive act of the staff. If you're a subscriber, most likely you're just wasting your time, your money or both. Have you ever wondered, how does medium actually make money? It's not from readers paying money to read valued content. Because 1) the platform has too few read-ONLY subscribers and is largely comprised of writers and 2) they already chased away many of their value-led writers. Writers who likely figured out that the changes made by the new CEO were suspicious, the ultra low earnings not worth the efforts they were giving and left. Medium actually makes money from the writers paying $5 every month and earning back cents, and this is the vast majority of writers on the platform. The platform is rigged against writers. Because medium can only make money when writers lose money. For medium to profit, the majority of writers have to lose money. Read it again. The poor distribution is intentional. Also, it's the only social media platform where creators lose money to create. Would you pay to go to work? Support businesses whose revenue is tied to the success of their users. Don't give your hard-earned money and precious time to deceptive, predatory scams like medium.

I thought it was for free. I was considering reading "Basic Philosophy Question: Idealism Vs. Materialism" and suddenly find out you are requested to upgrade with a charge. So for me it's game over. This said, doesn't surprise me at all when I saw what the owner of the joint looks like.... not inspirational to say the least Do not recommend

Fix your sign in process please, I get the code on my email, it's accepted and then nothing.. Yes I block ads and other annoyances, it rarely breaks any properly coded site. If you can't figure out a sign in process just don't send me crap that I won't be able to read.

One guy's opinion on here saying only Americans who know nothing write on there is untrue, Many Europeans write on there on diverse topics of social concerns. When I first perused it, I thought it was a hard left social issues only ezine, but over time I found out it was far more with many diverse articles on all kinds of subjects you wouldn't find anywhere else. I loved it and made many friends who were very nice. SOOO why did I give it one star?!?!?!? Here's the rub. The mods are hard leftists. I had a discussion with an author who was discussing transgender issue. I disagreed with him in a cordial way, emphasizing I was not in any way intending to be insulting. His response was curt and insulting as I find many fanatics are. I replied miffed and he reported me for being insulting. I was banned because the mods said on Medium transgenders are a protected group and cannot be questioned about. Soooo on that subject and probably other leftist issues discussions are controlled and shut down. When I said it smacked of the government controlling speech as they did under COVID, I was banned for questioning their policy, a typical leftist cancel culture action. Sooo never question any leftist pet issues on there! Just keep your mouth shut!!!

Seems great when you start using it and reading stories but eventually you wake up and discover that it is just plain simply worthless. It is mainly articles written by Americans without any real or useful knowledge.

I have know idea who these people are or how they came by my email. They won't unsubscribe me even though I've asked them to do so. Just another parasite company

Terrible moderation and tech issues. Cancelled sub though there are some fun stories you are better off on other platforms. Your work can be stolen and lost, so consider that before jumping in. I have been there two years and realise rather regrettably, you are better off elsewhere. General blogging is better.
