I came to Mayo Rochester just 3 years ago for cancer treatment for my husband, and while the care was wonderful and compassionate, he did pass away 2 years ago. Fast forward to 2026 and I am coming here with my boyfriend also for cancer treatment, and the difference is night and day. Staff are barely competent and defensive; almost everyone has a not-my-job attitude; and services are subject to long delays and wait times, even for cancer!!! The surgeon was not prepared for the surgical consult on April 24, is not versed in state-of-the-art robotic surgery, and only completed med school 11 years ago. I expect up-to-date skills from Mayo. 3 years ago I would have given 5 stars; today I would give 1 star. So I gave an average of 3 stars.

Sugar is not harmful for cancer patients? I beg you pardon? I think you need to get out of your box which you are living within, and get to study the scientific and published and peer reviewed works of: Dr. Jamnadas, Professor Thomas Seyfried Dr. William Li, Dr. John Campbell Dr. Sten Engberg ... and thousands with them - and get to a better and more concurrent conclusion than what you publish on your page numbered 20044714 (under diseases-condition, cancer, in-depth, cancer-causes, art-20044714) It is unacceptable that you write such things on your page, and that you write that all cells depend on sugar (glucose), while fact is that indeed you can have your body cells largely feed on ketosis (!), you can do fasting, you can do lots of things which will stall or even in some cases cure your cancer. Well. It would be desirable that you get into a serious revision of your statement here, and come back stronger and more wise. Sincerely

Great doctors, terrible processes. It takes months to receive blood test results. A doctor wanted to make a referral for me and it’s been three months with no one getting in touch with me about it. If your issue can be solved by taking to someone competent once, this is a great place; but it’s a waste of time and huge opportunity cost if you require tests/follow-ups. I regret going here.

The Mayo staff were considerate, efficient and the physicians seemed intelligent. However, I just saw their ad on TV which has a sign, “uncurable” which then changes to curable at the end of the ad. It was either written by a third grader or AI. Any health care facility that cannot spell incurable cannot be that great!!

The help there, those who greet you, register you are wonderful, could not be more helpful. Trying to reach your doctor by phone or portal is completely impossible. I am in the middle of a crisis concerning a refill and have not heard from the doctor over 2 months. The situation is scary and no contact.

I enjoy the informative newsletter but don’t appreciate Mayo Clinic giving or selling my e mail address to other parties. This is the only company that I used my nick name to subscribe. Since subscribing I have received quite a few solicitations addressed to Bud. Disappointed.

I took an elderly woman (86) to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ. We drove seven hours to make her appointments. My job and goal was to help her navigate an extremely confusing medical system. It started out as a NIGHTMARE! The chaos was truly disturbing. When they took our temperatures, they got a different reading every time. It was off by more than 6 degrees which is completely unacceptable for a medical center. They eventually just shrugged and let us in. Seriously? Covid 19 has exposed our medical system, and it is BROKEN. Even the Mayo Clinic can't get their facts straight. We were told we had to get on a shuttle right away to get to the Scottsdale clinic. She wasn't showing up in the system and we had to get there ASAP. So we sped to the shuttle for our 35 minute ride to Scottsdale. There we were told that all of her appointments had been cancelled, with NO NOTICE! Who cares if we just drove seven hours to get here! And then we were told we were in the wrong city and should be in Phoenix, where we had just been told to leave! This was the start of an all day ordeal, which was one mistake after another. WOW Mayo Clinic... get it together! Happy Ending: We found a woman who used her break to advocate for us. She was amazing and is the only reason I have any confidence in this place. She wants to be anonymous and I will respect her wish. If you go to the Mayo Clinic, GET AN ADVOCATE! You will be swept under the rug, and ignored without help. We were early to every appointment, and were always 100% prepared, and still had a terrible experience.
