Been a customer for several years. Savings account and CDs. Received and email offer that said: "DEPOSIT $50K FOR 90 DAYS AND RECEIVE A $750 BONUS" (Quoted exactly). So I deposited $50k and waited for around 100 days but NO BONUS. When I called to find out where my bonus payment was I was told "you didn't enroll" so you don't qualify. After checking I see that buried in the fine print it says that I needed to "enroll" to qualify, despite the fact that I already had a current savings account with them. Why would I need to enroll if I had a current account?? No one could answer! So despite the fact that they had my deposit for almost 100 days, they were not going to pay the bonus. I am now convinced that this "enrollment" scheme, that was not clearly stated, was done on purpose hoping that customers would not see it and then they could deny payment. I understand now why there are so many negative reviews for this company. I WILL BE CLOSING ALL MY ACCOUNTS WITH THEM AND WILL NEVER AGAIN DO BUSINESS WITH MARCUS.COM. I WILL ALSO LET EVERYONE I KNOW NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. DISHONEST! UPDATE 8/25/25: To be fair I am updating my original post. After going round and round with Marcus.com regarding my bonus that was denied only to be told by several different people that they would NOT honor the bonus, today I was checking my account and found that they have gone ahead and added the bonus to my account (4 months late, but I am glad to finally have it). Totally surprised, and never received any notification from Marcus about this. I guess they could always decide to take back the money, but at least for now I have the bonus in my account.

They don't allow me to transfer my money out. I had to call multiple times, getting transferred many times, holding the line for 20-30 mins before speaking to someone and going through the same set of security questions everytime someone picks up. Everytime I was told my outgoing bank account has not been verified, and they'd insist on having a 3 way call with my other banks. I have never had to verify on the phone in a 3 way call to verify bank ownership. If this is their way of risk control, it is designed in the worst possible way. It is a total shit show, and worst possible experience. I wouldnt recommend this bank to anyone. I am closing the account as the next step.

I can't access my money weeks after opening the account. I've spent hours on the phone with the security Team. We literally called my main bank together to verify my accounts and my identity and they are still blocking any attempt at a transfer. They only offer some vague "anti money laundering" protection but cannot tell me how long I have to wait to be able to do basic transfers. It gets even better: Security Team rep said I needed to close my former HYSA (Amex) before I could connect my bank and do transfers. Close that account and you'll be good to connect with your main banking, I was told. Now, after closing the account per their instructions, they are saying I shouldn't have done WHAT THEY TOLD ME TO DO! It is costing me money to not be able to access my money. I never imagined in a million years that Marcus was this horrible... Anyways, I will be cashing out and closing my account at the first chance and also filing CFPB and BBB complaints for the misinformation, incompetence and unwarranted financial stress they've put me and my family through.

My daughter is joint on owner on my account and I in the primary .The company reached out to her saying there was recent activity on my account and my account was restricted until she gave them a call. When I called there's no recent activity except what's supposed to be there and nobody would give me any information and the gentleman who was polite just talked in circles. When I have a chunk of money in an account and nobody will talk to me it's a company that I can't trust. Sadly I'll be moving my money.

Goldman Sachs should not be in the retail business, not for Marcus CDs, and definitely not for Apple credit cards. Their entire business model is predicated on transferring the customer to as many customer service agents as possible, verifying and re-verifying information over and over and then insisting that they get an agent from your bank online to verify that the account is yours when you finally do go to close your spark CD. It's probably not intentional. It's probably just incompetence due to the fact that they normally deal with high net worth individuals, who have assistance handling the tedious work. Clearly, they should have a process in place for handling transactions automatically where nominal sums phenomenal I mean under 100,000 or $10,000 are involved. I've never worked with any bank that once an account was verified via a micro deposits required contacting the other bank on the phone in order to transfer a CD out. Supervisors are rude likely because they have to deal with customers frustrated by poor business processes, all day long. Rather than get a Marcus CD, you're much better off just using your brokerage account and putting the funds in Skov or any other short-term treasury CD or better yet a growth stock or a dividend aristocrat.

Do not sign up for this joke of a company. 7 days for transfers , When told on a recorded line they'd reimburse a wire transfer fee because their system couldn't do an ach transfer they denied saying it and now I'm stuck. One issue of many. STAY AWAY !!!!!

I recently opened accounts with Marcus by Goldman Sachs and initially felt comfortable trusting them with a significant amount of money. Unfortunately, my experience quickly turned into one of the most stressful banking situations I’ve ever experienced. Roughly 30 days after opening the account, I suddenly received an email stating that my account had been closed. No phone call. No prior warning. No clear explanation. I immediately called customer service in a panic, trying to understand what was happening with my funds. Over the course of three separate calls, I dealt with representatives who were unable to verify me, could not clearly explain where my money was, and one representative even hung up and told me to simply call back later. During this time, I genuinely feared for the safety of my money because no one could provide clear answers or reassurance. Eventually, another representative stated there was “something off” with my Social Security information, despite the fact that the account had already been opened and funded successfully weeks earlier. Because I no longer trusted the institution or felt confident my funds were secure, I withdrew my money immediately — only to then be charged an early withdrawal penalty for a situation their own handling created. I was later offered a small “loyalty” credit, which I declined because the issue was far beyond a minor inconvenience. Customers deserve professionalism, transparency, and reassurance when dealing with large amounts of money. My experience with Marcus was the complete opposite. I would strongly encourage others to proceed with caution, especially if peace of mind and responsive customer service are important to you.

I have been a UK Marcus costumer for several years and after moving to the US I wanted to keep using their services. After filling the online form I called to complete my application. After a very long wait a finally got in touch with someone who should have helped me finalize the process. I get told some of the detail I have provided are not matching so they are rejecting the application. I asked if I can go though a more manual process - I even asked if I can do the verification in person - they just said no. No further explanation given. Just a few days earlier I have opened an account with another bank. The specialists sound very robotic throughout the call, repeating several times the same sentences and pretty much ignoring any specific questions. They seem to read almost everything they say. After many years with the UK branch, this has been an incredible disappointment.
