I tried to open a cd. When I tried to link my bank to Marcus it would say I needed to do it manually. I tried and tried. Their customer service people kept saying it would take a few days. After one week I gave up and had them delete my account. I tried E trade and got a better rate. It was set up and my bank linked to them in ten minutes. I’m so glad I left Goldman Sucks

Absolutely no customer service
Absolutely no customer service and each time you call expect to be on hold at 30 minutes. I had to add a beneficiary and after I was transferred 3 different times on hold forever, no one could assist me. They said couldn’t help I had to do online. The only problem it wouldn’t allow me to add a beneficiary on line. I had to close my account. A company with employees that can’t assist at all with issues regarding your account.

If I could give negative stars I would
If I could give negative stars I would. I contacted them multiple times as a direct deposit from a payroll company was missing and they gave me a different answer every time. Finally, when requesting a supervisor, not only did he fail to read the notes or update himself on the situation, he repeatedly attempted to talk over me and misrepresent my concern as the phone calls are recorded. He failed to understand where the deposit was coming from, what ADP (a major payroll processing company) even is, what accounts were successfully verified and connected to the savings account for years, and refused to transfer me to anybody who could answer my questions (or apparently read). It ultimately resulted in closing the account, which he attempted to do by claiming i had no accounts connected and they would mail me a check within 10 days. I immediately transferred the money out and closed the account myself. I have since contacted my employer and am having the deposit cancelled (which they lost, and were unable to tell me anything about other then just wait, its coming, but theres also no pending deposits). It seemed incredibly, incredibly shady and as if I was speaking to people who barely completed elementary school. Losing money, and then being incredibly rude and uneducated is not acceptable from a financial institution. They should be investigated and you should keep your money literally anywhere else.

Do Not Fall for the LIE
I would have gave 0 stars if I can. I opened the account in Faburary for the $1500 initial deposit bonus. Then in April, I tried to move my money out because I wanted to purchase a house. I spent 2 weeks and had gone through a lot still couldn't get my money out on time for closing escrow. So I went here and left a bad reveiw.
Then I got a call from Marcus' service representative, asked me to put my money back. She said if I did so, Marcus will still honor my initial bonus. I believed her and transferred my money back. Of course as of today I'm told that I'm not eligible because I transferred the money out during the first three months.
Just want to leave my review here and hope someone can see this and avoid the trap.

THIEVES!!!!!! Do NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM
With all of these horrible reviews, you would think that this scam of a corporation would be shut down. They steal peoples money and then deny them access. I have been trying for almost 3 years to get money out of our account and they want me to pay for a document as proof that I can get the money out of the account I’m going to see what can be done about filing a formal complaint. They have to be stopped!!! Dirty criminals is what they are. THIEVES!!!!!

Part 2 MARCUS/GOLDMAN SACHS FAILS TO TRANSFER CD FUNDS
Follow up
My matured CD fund was finally transferred back to my bank of record as originally request; over a week later.
But first, multiple phone calls were required.
Marcus closed my account as stated in first post.
They then re-opened it as a new CD. Then closed it again but wanted to charge me a early withdrawal penalty, I insisted it be removed. After a few more daily calls to Marcus customer service, a ACH was performed and the funds transferred.
MIGHT HELP ! I found that talking to customer service in the U.S. moved the process along quicker than dealing with someone overseas.
SO….. if you are on the phone with the automated system and hear a loud different tone, that is the connection to the overseas customer service. HANG UP then dial again - chances are you will eventually get U.S. representative.

Marcus is the Hotel California of Banking. You can check your money in, but good luck checking it out
Marcus is the Hotel California of banking: you can check your money in, but buyer beware when it comes to checking it out.
The day my CDs matured, I instructed Marcus to transfer the funds to another bank. It should have been a routine transaction. Instead, it became a lesson in how difficult it can be to regain control of your own money.
First, Marcus failed to link my external account. Then, at my request, Marcus initiated a manual transfer and canceled it the very next day without explanation. When I called, no one could tell me why the transfer had been canceled. Instead, I was told that trial deposits were required and would arrive within 1–3 business days.
Three business days later, no trial deposits had arrived. After another call, I learned they had never been sent.
Why?
Because Marcus had instead rolled my funds into a new one-year, lower rate CD after canceling the transfer.
What happened next was even more disturbing.
Although I had requested the transfer the day of maturity and still had 10 remaining days to the grace period, Marcus informed me that the when they canceled the transfer they also terminated the grace period. In other words, the very transaction Marcus canceled became the basis for also canceling the grace period and denying me the opportunity to move my funds elsewhere.
The result: my money was locked into a new one-year CD at a lower rate, and I was told I would have to pay an early withdrawal penalty to access funds I had already attempted to transfer while the grace period was still in effect.
Read that again.
I instructed Marcus to transfer my money.
Marcus canceled the transfer.
Then, Marcus rolled the funds into a new CD, without my knowledge or consent.
Marcus simultaneously ended the grace period.
Marcus then informed me that I would be penalized for accessing my own money.
The solution? I am waiting 5–7 business days for Marcus to decide whether it will waive penalties that exist only because of actions Marcus itself took.
Meanwhile, I attempted to link the account from the other bank's side. Marcus blocked the connection. The error message specifically instructed me to contact Marcus. When I did, Marcus claimed there was nothing they could do and suggested the issue was with the other bank—the same bank account I have successfully maintained since 2008.
At every stage there was a new obstacle, a new delay, or a new explanation that contradicted the one before it. The outcome remained the same: the transfer did not occur, the grace period disappeared, and my funds were placed into a new CD that I neither requested nor authorized.
Banks occupy a unique position of trust. Customers entrust them with their savings because they believe their instructions will be honored, their funds will remain under their control, and their financial institution will act with transparency and integrity.
My experience with Marcus shattered that trust.
What concerns me most is not the inconvenience, the wasted time, or even the uncertainty surrounding my funds. It is the precedent. No customer should have to fight to access money that was already scheduled to leave an account. No customer should be forced to seek permission to undo consequences created by a bank's own actions. And no customer should be left wondering whether a routine transfer will become an administrative trap that results in penalties, delays, and loss of control over their own assets.
I will be filing formal complaints with the appropriate regulatory agencies because what occurred here deserves scrutiny.
If you're considering Marcus, don't ask how easy it is to deposit money.
Ask yourself what happens when you want it back.

Your would think this was a reputable…
Your would think this was a reputable company but they make it very difficult when you want to get your money out. It takes days to get a successful wire transfer and many phone calls, they have layer of “security” that you end up having to go through. Most agents are not the brightest and english is not their primary language. It feels like a scam but isn’t.
if you read other reviews this seems like a common complaint. it seems criminal how long it takes and all the steps that you have to go through.
BEWARE!!!
