Horrible and time wasting experience to try to get the $$ out upon a CD maturity. They don't want to release your $ and would do many unnecessary steps to make you wait and wear you down. Customer service isn't knowledgeable and overall it was a very UNPLEASANT business experience! Stay away from them....

My 80 year old mother asked me to set up a CD for her and their process made it so difficult that after filling out the info in the on-line application, and then being directed to call in, and spending over 20 minutes with a CSR on the phone, we just gave up and invested elsewhere.

Marcus review I closed my Marcus account on July 23, 2026 and directed Marcus to move funds, over $102,000, to deposit in my South Carolina bank. Marcus improperly coded the ACH to my bank (despite the correct information was displayed in my Marcus profile) and the transfer was rejected and my money was returned to Marcus with a verified ACH tracking number. What transpired in the next 42 days was unbelievable. Nearly 7 hours of phone conversations (mostly on hold) with people who consistently said “I am sorry for your inconvenience” but had no authority to do anything. After Marcus sent my check to my home address without alerting me first, the check sat in limbo for 4 weeks because I wasn’t home and they required a signature. I didn’t receive a tracking number until 3 weeks after it was sent. I was able to pick it up at the local CVS pharmacy because they forgot to return it to Marcus after it wasn’t picked up promptly. When I inquired about the interest on my money (over $300) that Marcus controlled for 42 days, I was told I wasn’t eligible because my account was closed. Marcus said they would send me a check for $25 for my inconvenience. Unbelievable!

Absolutely horrible! Avoid at all costs. Even though banks were verified, Marcus keeps rejecting transfers for no reason. I call customer service and they can’t tell me. They just say try again. They have caused missed tax deposits, etc. Don’t let the higher interest rate fool you. Working with them has been a nightmare and they make it difficult to get money out for emergencies.

I would give a zero star if I could. This is by far the worst bank I've ever dealt with. Incompetent staff and close to illegal banking procedures. Don't be fooled by the "Goldman Sachs" name and do not trust your money with this bank.

Made my auto registration payment on our state portal from the Marcus savings. Marcus rejected it stating it was "unauthorized.". Marcus never notified me and I had no idea until the state threatened legal action if I don't pay the bill. I called Marcus and some idiot customer service rep said that it's Marcus policy not to cover payments for certain things. I didn't fully understand what he was saying but what really irritated me was that he said it's in the disclosures and I should have known. Just closed the account. Terrible

after banking with these people for over 6 years now, they just decided to hold my incoming wire from a trust account for now 7 days, and counting. They would not give me a reason except for the all-purpose "administration review"- no other explanation. There has never been any fraudulent activity, nor was this incoming wire out of the ordinary. They just decided to hold it, because they decided to. The interest on this amount of money is big, so I decided that it was a part of thier M.O. to get as much money as they can from all thier clients. I am sure I am not the only person. If they do this regularly to all thier clients, they could profit substantially. Stay away! There are other banks that have a higher APR.

I will give it zero stars instead of 1 star if this is an option. This is what happened. Marcus ran an advertisement at the beginning of this year saying, "Open an account with them, deposit a certain amount of money, and maintain it for 90 days to get a bonus." However, I did all these steps but did not receive the bonus. I called customer service; they said it was because I did not click a button to agree to enroll in the bonus. That is definitely misleading and a trick that they are playing. In the advertisement, they lure people into opening accounts and depositing money; however, in the end, they come up with an excuse not to give people the bonus. If you say the customer must agree to a link to receive that bonus, why don't you display that information on the customer account page, stating, "click the link to get the bonus"? There is NO information or heads-up like that in the account; then they could come up with an excuse for not giving the bonus that they advertised. It is false advertising and a scam.
