Horrible, sinking feeling.
I thought it would be a good idea to open a hysa and put my inheritance in there. Little did I know that this company would put me through so much agony while I grieved the loss of my mother. My phone started blowing up and people were leaving me super aggressive voicemails- it really felt like they sold my information and I was getting scam calls. After confirming with a rude chat rep via the official app, I learned that these really were Marcus folks trying to contact me. They said I must call them immediately. I said I really didn’t want to spend my day waiting on hold when I had no idea what they wanted from me. I waited on hold for a super long time on a Friday, and I spoke to at least 2 different people who spoke to me like I was some kind of criminal, and asked me questions that really didn’t sound legitimate. I spent the whole weekend in shambles, not knowing if I had actually been speaking to legitimate reps and whether they were going to freeze my account over one of my answers to their laundry list of questions. They finally approved my opening deposit after about a week and I slowly began withdrawing it back to my normal checking account over the next several weeks, as ChatGPT suggested I don’t try to pull it all back at once. I don’t care how much interest these people are offering! The threat of your money being frozen when you haven’t done anything wrong should be enough to scare anyone away. I never again want a bank making me feel the way they did.
