It takes a few more minutes to take to…
It takes a few more minutes to take to someone than I would like. It seems like 911 could be faster because it is so close to my house. But when someone answers they are very professional. I still like to have it.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review Margaret! We are usually extremely fast in responding to a button press, but when there is a high volume of them occurring around the same time, it is not unexpected for the monitoring specialists to all be busy and so the wait time does increase.

Accidental monitor alerts
Overall, we are very please with the system. There is one complaint though and it pertains to accidental alerts and there have been a number of accidental alerts from our mother bumping the button, etc. It would be nice if someone from LifeStation could call us if they have already contacted our mother to discover that she is fine and the monitor was accidentally set off by her. It would save the three of us (siblings) from all calling our mother to find our what LifeStation already knows.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review Alex! When the button gets pressed there is the automatic message that gets sent to you informing you about the button press, but at this time there is no additional message that you get if the button press is determined to be an accident. This is something that we will work on to get this process more optimized, but sadly at the moment there is not much more than we can do to help in your situation.

I was surprised that I would have to…
I was surprised that I would have to pay to return the unit and lockbox.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review Maurice! The reason why we do not pay for the return of the device is because until it is in the building we are required by law to answer any button press. For this reason, the service is still active and the monitoring specialists are still responding to all button presses until we have the device back in the building when we can officially turn it off.

So far, so good
Fortunately I have not had to use my LIfestation yet so cannot comment on how effective it is in a crisis. I have had no problems communicating with the team when I check the system.

Appropriate notification
We are all notified when the alarm is set off by mistake. When it is verified a mistake I don't feel notifying the entire family is necessary.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review Joyce. While i understand your feelings on this, and i get how it could be seen as unnecessary, there is a protocol in place that the monitoring specialists have to follow on every button press, whether it is an accident or not. One of these is to make sure to notify the people on the contact list. This makes it far easier for the monitoring specialists to deal with a situation because whether it is an accident or not all they have to do is to follow the set procedures.

My elderly mother frequently leans…
My elderly mother frequently leans against her button accidentally setting off the alarm to her annoyance. I am happy we are not penalized for false alarms. Responders are professional and helpful.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review Christine. While it is unfortunate that the button is being pressed accidentally, we would never penalize anyone for us. Part of what we hope for is that you almost forget you are wearing the device so it does not interfere in your everyday life. A side of effect of this would be that at times you may bump into something while wearing it and it would go off. We would much rather deal with the false alarms than have you not wearing the device when something actually did happen.

So good in so many ways
So good in so many ways, yet I get the feel that it's still not 21st century technology. The call unit is big and clunky, it takes longer than expected to connect, the volume is always too loud, and the range is still somewhat limited. I'd like to see the wearable call unit be redesigned to look a little more fashionable and more like jewelry and less like call button. Wouldn't it be great if the call button bracelet or pendant had a place on it to carry a list of meds and emergency contact information?Overall, it meets my mother's needs, the staff is professional, the equipment works as described, and the service was easy to set up.

You are right that the device could be more up to date in its technology, and while this is true across the industry, there have been no big changes yet. Trust me though when i say that people are working each day to try and make the devices as integrated with technology as possible, and each year we hope this will improve even further.
