We had a wonderful visit at Brookside. The place was immaculate, well-equipped and had the coolest little Dog Spot under the stairs. A brilliant idea. Loved the porch the most. Could sit and rock for hours!!

Very Private. Very Clean. Great Location. Hot Tub was VERY relaxing. I would go again.

We had a wonderful time at Elk Cabin. The place was kept so well. The surroundings were so lush and peaceful. Balm to the soul. Kathleen is a fantastic host. Thank you for a memorable getaway.

This was the cutest cabin ever. It was tucked away but not too far from the city. I would stay here again and again. It was perfect!

We stayed in the Red Bird cabin. For the most part, it was very nice. My biggest issue was the bed, it was awful! Not at all comfortable! Not even sure it was a queen, seemed small but we are used to a king. The kitchen was supposed to be fully stocked. There were maybe three of everything. We ended up buying paper plate, bowls, plastic cups and utensils. Nothing to clean the rusted grill. Probably ok for a couples weekend trip but not for a family. And also didn’t have any trails near by which we were looking forward to. I wanted to reply but wasn’t able to so I figured I’d update my review. Like I said, overall the cabin was very nice. I did give it four stars! We are a small family of 3 and our daughter slept in the loft and loved it! The queen bed could use a new mattress. It’s very “springy” for lack of a better word. And the kitchen is described as fully stocked. Sure we had had enough for the three of us, if we wanted to wash dishes after each meal. We stayed in most of the time so we ate in the cabin a lot. It just wasn’t what we had expected. We still had a great stay and nothing was worth bothering anyone about.

What an amazing quiet place to relax and enjoy the surrounding area. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a nice peaceful place to get away to come here.

We had a wonderful weeklong stay at Mountain Laurel Retreat (the Brookside cabin)! It’s a lovely, comfortable, spacious-yet-cozy cabin, where we (two adults and a small dog) enjoyed a beautiful vacation week. Kathleen (the owner) was kind, gracious, helpful, and extremely responsive before and during our stay there. This was the first time that we had traveled during the pandemic, and we were grateful for the high level of cleanliness and extra precautions that Kathleen and her support staff took. For us, the cabin was perfectly located (between Asheville and Marshall), and it’s located on quiet, beautiful grounds right off of a thoroughfare. We did lots of cooking during the week and found everything we needed in the kitchen, and though it was hot outside (high 80s), it was cool and comfortable inside (with ACs and a fan). We loved the porch for our morning coffee. We just wished that we could have stayed longer! Thanks, Kathleen and Mountain Laurel Retreat!

Beautifully decorated, cabin in the woods. And, dog friendly! We enjoyed the country each morning while sitting on the swing on the front porch. Only took us 15 minutes to downtown Asheville. We loved our stay and will be back again soon. Thank you for sharing this beautiful cabin with us.
