"In this together.."... yeah right!!!
Do NOT TRUST AUTO-PAY. And the whole "We are in this together..." Is absolute Bull!!!!! I have all my accounts set up on auto-pay - - why wasn't it paid? My husband and I were so sick with this horrible virus, just breathing was an accomplishment. (On top of which I also developed bilateral pneumonia) When the phone rang it was A Kohl's Rep, curtly stated my account was delinquent. OMG, I was beside myself. I Immediately paid everything. I tried to get an answer about how was it late when autopay was set up...she said "payments have to be keyed manually." That made no sense...then why did it allow me to set it up? Her answer -- was to repeat several times --"manually each payment." So I gave up. An hour later, I collected myself the best I could and called back. Unlike the first person, This rep listened to me, then politely explained the process for "us" to get all this fixed. She assured me Kohl's was there for their customers, especially amid the pandemic. She was so very reassuring I was convinced "we" would get this corrected. She gave me multiple case file #'s...four days later all the late fees were credited, and my credit score rebounded. Two weeks later they unfixed my credit score, it DROPPED 70 points, and I was confused, devastated, upset, and angry!!!! But the credit applied to my account for those 'late fees' is still there. Mind you I received no explanation whatsoever as to why the derogatory late payment had once again been added to my credit file. I called three times and the reps either could not or would not provide me a reason for this reversal. So as a last ditch attempt to rectify this without lawyers, I sent a snail mail letter to their "Credit Dispute Center" explaining all this, with all the case #'s and asked "them" to review my entire credit history and they would see here no way I simply ignored my Kohl's bill while paying everything else. They would also realize something was wrong here because someone with excellent credit status wouldn't wreck their own file intentionally. Kohl's finally sent me a computer generated, form letter with no name of any real person on it...to tell me they won't fix my credit file because Kohl's values integrity and doing so would lessen the integrity of the system. REALLY? So I have been given a "integrity filled split decision." ~ my payment status was not so egregious as to deserve to be charged late fees, but it was most definitely so malicious as to deserve a golly-whopping 70 point hit, PLUS remain on and affecting my entire credit portfolio for seven years! Kohl's expects me to believe that No lender has ever realized honest mistakes do happen, apps and programs make errors and even get hacked, and that in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, no customer has received assistance, been given the benefit of the doubt, been given a second chance, or here's a crazy notion --actually been believed when their actions are explained? I have been subjected to unfair credit practices, treated cruelly, and blatantly discriminated against, so I have no choice but file suit. I am the one suffering physically, emotionally, & financially-- and I will for many years because of this. I worked hard to build a strong credit portfolio. Then someone, somewhere Hiding behind the anonymity of a computer screen has ruined my life with a few simple clicks. (Filled with integrity of course.) I look forward to facing a real person in court. I want to see their integrity on display before a jury. Be Aware & Be careful -- check your account... Do not trust this auto-pay; it could wreck your life. "We're all in this together." "Together, we will make it thru this." Yeah, right! If you took the time to read this -- Thank you.
