Called Papa for someone to come to our house to help tidy up a little bi on Monday for some to arrive at 9 am on Wednesday. Wednesday morning at 8:58 am someone called living two hours away and said they were on the way but had not left their residence. We canceled the request because of the lack it would have been past noon when they arrived, and we didn't wat to be stuck at the house waiting on them. So we did the work ourselves with still more to do. Papa called and tried to reschedule, but after two failed attempts at getting help, we decided Papa is of little value.

I love Papa and I will refer anyone to go ahead and try this awesome service. Company very dedicated to their members needs.

Started working for Papa over 7 months ago and the moment I finished my very first visit, I knew that this part time job would be rewarding! Now over 100 visits completed and over 200 hours. I am excited to continue being a Pal to some amazing Papas! Thanks for the opportunity to treat others like my family.

I just recently joined Papa as a Pal. Having started a program very similar to this at my last job, I was excited to have found this organization and was eager to begin helping older adults who are in need of companionship and assistance around the house. My experience has not been as rewarding as I had hoped. First off, as a pal, you have minimal information about the expectation of your duties or about the members. I thought I was going to be helping older adults yet one of the “visits” the member was 31, gave me all of the cleaning tasks she wanted me to do then she left. Another “visit” was to a woman Who had me do data entry for the nonprofit organization she founded while she was in the other room for two hours strait. For this visit it said the member needed help learning how to use her computer, but instead she knew the computer very well she just needed someone to do her data entry work for FREE. Then there are other “visits” I’ve done that are husband and wife duos that seemingly run circles around me that wanted nothing more for me than to clean their house. If I wanted to be a maid, I would have started my own business making more money as a professional house cleaner. I was under the impression that this was for older adults that needed companionship and help around the house and that medical insurance companies were paying for this which I thought was great! But instead it seems as though, members are taking advantage of “free labor” paid for by their medical insurance company. Then when trying to call Papa Pal to ask them questions about these situations, you are unable to get a hold of anyone. Their phone number sounds promising when you first call it yet directs you to go online to “get help” and just repeats that same message over and over until it hangs up on you. Once going online as instructed to try and get in contact with someone it directs you to a section of automated questions and responses and if you don’t see what your issue is in the list to choose from, there’s no way you can go further without choosing one that doesn’t correspond to the actual problem. Even if you chose a different option (just so you can move on) it directs you to call,(which is just an automatic recording that loops you back to online) or it directs you to a series of articles of FAQs but never gives you a real live person to talk to. Having run my own program there are several suggestions I have for improving this system but I feel as though I need to understand the organization better before making those suggestions because I just may be looking through a different lens than what this program was intended for. Regardless, it’s not as rewarding for me as it seems to be for others. And having worked with medical insurance companies, I highly doubt they know they are paying for their members labor costs for their private nonprofit organizations or for a personal house keeper for someone perfectly capable of cleaning their own house nor do I feel they would pay for a program like this if they did know. There seems to be no actual follow up, data on outcomes or auditing of members, the pals or the work that is being done. The surveys we as Pals are to fill out at the end of the visits, don’t allow for you to make these types of responses or complaints as most of the questions have answers for you to choose from with no room for other comments.

Papa is one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had. I am truly making a difference in the lives of the members I help. The pay and flexible hours are nice, but the opportunity to touch lives is the greatest reward of working for Papa.

I love taking on jobs for Papa Pals -- being able to help and connect with people who need a little help has been an absolute joy. I feel it makes me a better member of my community.

No one showed up to take me to a very important doctor visit. When I called was told that driver had canceled but no one informed me of this, This was a very important appointment that I had waited six weeks for. I will never trust these people and will be reporting my concerns to my insurance company Braven,

My mom recently received a call from her insurance stating that she could have someone from Papa Pal’s help her. She had a lady come over to help clean her house twice. The second time the women brought her mother to help. My mom caught one of the ladies taking money from a purse (which she confronted and got back). The women left with the garbage bags but did not place in the garbage cans outside. Instead placed them in their car. After they left my mother noticed things that were missing around the house.
