I had a wonderful experience with outset!!! It was a perfect mix between fun, social, and active versus academic, and informative. There was less hands on activities than expected, lots of long lectures. However all the speakers were very interesting and helpful. It was a great environment: easy to meet friends and everyone excited to be there. The staff were also a highlight, the counselors were amazing. Would definitely recommend outset!!!

I was a bit leery about the validity of this program, however I am so glad that I enrolled my daughter! She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for their Dentistry program, even though she wants to be an Oral Surgeon. She says it was so worth it! She shared all of the wonderful things that she had learned and is looking forward to her future as an Oral Surgeon. Many thanks to Outset for creating a fantastic program!

We were happy with the selection process, the communication and the program overall. Our daughter participated in the program at Columbia, went in interested in Cardiology and came out interested in Anesthesiology and Pharmacology. She loved seeing an open heart surgery, learning about the SOAP method, and exploring NYC. My husband and I would have liked to have known the age of the “Camp” Counselor (19) ahead of time and during check out, ID was not required to pick our daughter up. Overall, I still give it 5 stars. It was an investment worth making.

It was super inclusive and such a friendly environment. I met so many great people and learned so many new things during my week at vanderbilt.

I just wanted to say thank you for developing such a fantastic program for teens interested in medicine! My daughter just came back from UNC Chapel Hill and she did the emergency medicine track. She had the time of her life this past week! She met wonderful friends who shared her interest in medicine, and she learned so much from the lectures. She loved the evening activities and she said the counselors were great! And the best part is that the camp helped to solidify her interest in medicine and emergency medicine. Thank you again for creating Outset!

My son had a fantastic week at U of M with the Outset program! He learned so much valuable information from the lectures. Professor Martha was a wealth of knowledge about medical school and the MCAT. He thought the simulations they did in the afternoon were very cool and lots of fun! He also got to experience life in the dorms for the week and met some wonderful new friends. I liked how there were only 6 kids in his main group with a counselor, who he thought was great, and only 38 kids total, making it a nice manageable group to get to know everyone. They had plenty of time at night to hang out and they did various team building activities which he really enjoyed.

I had done the emergency medicine camp at Columbia University, which I was interested in touring and experiencing. Overall the program was great; for someone who has little experience, I was able to learn basic suturing, lumbar punctures, and intubation. Besides that, the lectures focused on pre-med pathways and careers were a little less engaging and insightful. They were frequently redundant and included information that is easily accessible online. Despite this, the person giving these lectures was one of the leaders of pre-health guidance at NYU, so we could get good insight about how to structure your years and plan your future. This camp is overall a pretty good program, the lectures were primarily good because of who gave them, but the simulations were good for beginners who have little experience with medicine! Additionally, it’s nice because everything is already paid for with the tuition, even transportation.

My son had a great experience at his first Outset pre Dental Camp at UNC. He came home with great info about the dental program, DAT Prep, and real experience from the faculty. He enjoyed the hands on filling and casting sims and interacting with UNC dental residents. My son like the down time as well, bonding with the other students. He made great connections with students who came from across the country. Also have to thank the counselor staff who were fun and welcoming.
