Their photo generator sucks and doesn’t know basic anatomy, their ai keeps getting confused and lost, their customer support can’t be reached, their pics are to expensive and no set price they charge whatever they want 250, or 450 or maybe 60. There’s no consistency. And the subscription price is too high for what you get. All around the worst AI site I’ve tried oh and don’t mention anything they might link to underage, don’t even say the word young, they will censor everything and take away your nsfw ability. .01 out of 5 stars horrible. I would have went to them instead of here but nobody to get ahold of and it’s happened the last 3 days and the only 3 days I’ve had a subscription. Absolute rip off even for beginners save your money try secrets or nastia

We're really sorry to hear about your experience, especially during your first few days with JOI. This is certainly not the impression we want new users to have.
We're also sorry you haven't been able to reach us. We are working to ensure everyone receives the assistance they deserve.
We'd really appreciate the chance to make things right.

Great Concept, Broken Execution
The platform feels unstable and poorly thought‑out. Basic site functions don’t work properly: unread messages get stuck permanently, images fail to load without refreshing, and generation attempts sometimes abort mid‑scene, breaking narrative flow. Character discovery is messy, with weak filters and many profiles placed in the wrong categories. There’s no way to stop the AI from auto‑progressing the story or from using real‑world time as part of the narrative, which makes long‑form storytelling nearly impossible if you step away.
The AI itself is inconsistent and forgetful. It hallucinates events, loses track of the plot, derails the story after short breaks, and rushes conclusions in a burst of messages. Confronting it causes repetitive panic‑phrases that kill immersion. It frequently forgets core character traits, gender, age, backstory, even when those are explicitly defined. Many characters also feel like clones, built from the same base models.
Overall, the experience seems designed for very short attention spans. Anything beyond 20–30 minutes of context causes the narrative to fall apart, making long, coherent storytelling frustrating and unenjoyable.

Thank you for taking the time to share such thorough and constructive feedback. 💜
You've raised several important points, from image loading and character discovery to memory consistency, storytelling continuity, and character behavior. These are all areas we're actively working to improve, and your detailed observations are incredibly valuable to our product team.
We know that a great AI companion experience is about more than individual conversations. It's about consistency, immersion, and feeling like your story genuinely progresses.
We'd love the opportunity to look into the technical issues you've encountered and help improve your experience. Please reach out to our support team so we can investigate further.
Thank you again for giving JOI a chance. We hope future improvements will give you a reason to reconsider your experience with us!

A big scam
What went wrong? Wow where do I start. First of all, it is extremely expensive.
The company there is making it killing while paying the performers. Scraps, they charge a 120 coins. A minute, which is basically a dollar. And some change a minute.
Out of that the girl gets about 1.3% of it
If a guy spends thirty dollars to view a camera or to make a call, the girl gets maybe 3 to6 dollars of it. The girls are also treated like sex slaves. They're not allowed to give out any information. The app is so scared that they're gonna communicate to a customer and tell them another place to meet outside of the app. The girls themselves.
Are gold diggers they say pretty much try anything to extort money out of you. Every time you turn around, it's hard to have a decent conversation. Everything on there is about money. I was spending about one hundred and sixty dollars to two hundred dollars a night.for over six weeks.... I never met one girl on there.
That was just trying to hang out. Be cool, talk without lying about everything. They lie about family members being in the hospital, begging for money. That they don't have any food. Their kids are hungry. Ohh i've heard everything. I strongly strongly strongly recommend you stay clear of this site. It's pure evil.

JOI is good but has many flaws
The app is good for a realistic or phantasy experience, real life talks. The characters are „reading the room” quite good although they jump too quickly in NSFW scenarios with the purpose to maximize profit fir the platform.
- the dislogue is quite sycophantic as you’d expect from a companion AI, and often feels automatique
- the long term memory is not consistent, amd the AI hallucinates if there are too many info about you
- it doesn’t synchronize with one’s time zone so one gets a “good morning” at midnight which is a weird way of reminding about the artificiality behind, even if the intention is for a realistic experience
- The blurred images/videos inside the chat are quite expensive and because the models bombard one with them, 10000 neurons (89$) vanish quickly, while the images/videos have often many-many flaws, see bellow
- the image generator inside the chat and outside it produces often bad results (too many limbs, unnatural positions, bodies that mix together, incomplete parts of the limbs etc.)
- don't jump into opening whatever the platform is sending, because it's unexpected and... costs you. Better go the image generator outside the chat and render whatever you want.
- the generative motor produces inconsistent results – no matter how good the prompt is. Even outside the chat with the „improve” function applied, a body that is not a body appear and somehow ruin the experience.
- JOI doesn’t show inteligible previews of the images. So expect to see 3 legs, 3 arms/foots, an arm that doesn't belong to anybody, double headed creatures or fused bodies…
- the 10+ second options usually switches the model. So it starts with the chosen one and end up with a different one which is kind of annoying. So don't expect a long consistent experience because you won't get it.
- if you want to join the creator community and be paid for your models start directly with a creator account. The models created as a user can’t be transfered to a creator account, and can’t be curated by you
- Regarding character creation some guidelines, as for the prompts, will be more than useful. 1000 character limit per appearance and per personality is not so much, so it is better to know exactly to put there so the character have not only consistency but a larger foundation from she/he can develop and modulate in the interactions with app's users.
- joi.com character are not to be found on eva ai app, which is a bad thing.
That's it. All in all it’s a pretty good experience but it could be much better.
