The stress of finding a date, as a shy man, is enough for me to stay out of the dating scene. IJL removes a lot of that stress and brings me face-to-face with a date and perhaps, possibly, a second chance at marriage.

Need to screen the person and updated their photos. The person who I meet didn’t look like the photo I got. I didn’t even recognize the person I was supposed to meet. This is my first date and it was the worst. I pay for the service but I really regret it now. I might as well use the online site and be surprised by it

Looking for love? Then BEWARE It’s Just Lunch. I will never ever use this service ever again. And I will warn anyone and everyone about it who is looking for a matchmaking service. It costs an immeasurable and massive amount of money, and you don’t get much for it. I only went on 4 dates out of 12, they stopped setting up dates for me, they started ignoring all my calls and emails, and then they never refunded me. They are extraordinarily slow in finding people, make constant excuses for their slowness, find unattractive people a good amount of the time, and sometimes even give inaccurate information about potential matches. Weeks and weeks can go by without even a potential match, and when you do eventually get one, whether you actually go out with the person and it doesn’t work, or you decide not to accept the date, the process of waiting and waiting and waiting starts all over again. Romantic connection is what most people want almost more than anything else, and waiting and waiting for every single potential match, and then even rarer, going out on an actual date, is extremely emotionally draining and stressful. When you need to reach your matchmaker, it can be very hard, and when you want to reach the company, you never get anything other than the voicemail system, and no one ever calls you back. Do not waste your time, money, or emotional energy on this service.

I think it’s too early in the process to give a thorough review. The matchmakers have been pleasant to talk to and work with so far although I feel like response time could be improved. My first date was also misinformed about my world views which led to the date starting out rather awkward. Again it’s too early to give a comprehensive review but my experience has been average so far. Improved communication and faster turnaround times for dates would improve the experience.

We had a slower start than I expected, but Mariana really came through with her latest match introduction. I felt she really understood what I hoped for, and spent time finding a good fit before sending it to me. She also gave me helpful advice on how best to follow up with my date that I appreciated.

I’ve only had two dates so I can’t really recommend them yet. The first date was a good fit and someone is potentially be interested in. The second date, not do much.

I signed up last December on the "Private Search: Diamond" plan for 24 matches. It's now been three months and they've arranged one match so far. They advertise having millions of members, but if they are this slow to be able to find matches, that implies their marketing is very dishonest or they're very bad at matchmaking. I live in New York City so they should have lots of other members nearby. Update, June 2023: I've been a client for over six months now, and they've set up two dates in this time period. They arranged one more match for me, which was supposed to be a dinner date yesterday. The person I was matched with emailed the matchmaker two days ago to cancel, but the matchmaker didn't tell me, so I wasted three hours going to the restaurant when she wasn't coming. The matchmakers are also very unprofessional, always calling about things that would be better off sent in an email. It seems like they are trying to avoid having a written record of all their screwups. Update, November 2023: I'm going to add three stars every time they successfully set up a match, and subtract one star for each month without a match. If you are reading this review and it is below four stars, you can see that IJL provides less than one match per three months. Again, I live in New York City, which should be the location with the largest pool of matches - it's probably less frequent elsewhere.
