The depravity of the this company is bottomless

They sold me on the ERC program and I was informed that I would have 6 quarters worth of taxes that I could file 941-X for. I had been in contact with them for over a year before they told me that 2 of them were never filed. The 2 largest ones as well. This makes me think that Innovation Refunds is running a scam on not just the people that went to them for this refund but also the Federal government. So far I have not had to repay any of my ERC because of fraud but I am sure a lot of people that used their service had to repay the government plus interest. Also, they do not want to work with anyone on fee restructures due to mistakes on their part filing paperwork for the IRS. It took over 3 years to receive my final refund because of an address error on their part that (which they denied but IRS sent proof different than theirs). Interest is considered part of the 25% so any interest you are paying income tax on you still owe 25% to them on top of what the government charges you. They will not reduce fees for you even if they made mistakes. Very poor customer service. I was not made aware of a check being sent to the wrong address until someone reached out to me 18 months after the check was mailed saying to call them to see where it is. I am paying them 25% so I really think this should be their job not mine. Just all around shady and bad company! BEWARE!

Public Statement Regarding Innovation Refunds I’m sharing this to warn other business owners considering Innovation Refunds. After receiving a refund related to an ERC claim, I was invoiced well beyond the original estimated recovery. Innovation Refunds is now claiming a 25% fee on IRS interest, not just the refunded tax amount. This is a policy change that was never disclosed or communicated. In prior conversations and throughout the process, it was clearly represented that the 25% fee applied only to the tax refund itself, not interest. Retroactively enforcing a different interpretation—without notice—is unacceptable. More concerning: Innovation Refunds failed to respond to multiple IRS notices related to my ERC claim. When the IRS stated they had not received required forms, the responsibility to resolve the issue was pushed back onto me, despite this being the exact service Innovation Refunds was hired and paid to handle. The lack of follow-through directly contradicted their role as the firm managing the claim. Now, instead of accountability, I’m being told this additional billing is justified due to “alignment with contract terms,” despite prior confirmations and past billing practices stating otherwise. Based on my experience: Poor communication Failure to handle IRS correspondence Retroactive fee changes Shifting responsibility back to the client I would strongly discourage anyone from using Innovation Refunds. Business owners deserve transparency, consistency, and representation—especially when dealing with the IRS. Please do your due diligence before engaging with this company.

Stay away from this company. signed with them in 2022. Received Payroll credit in 2024. And we had to return one of the checks back to IRS based on their recommendation (apparently they have made a mistake ). And this month we received a letter from the IRS asking to clarify why the check was returned to them. I contacted them right away expecting a swift reply (since it was their idea to return the check and prepared the paperwork along with the check returned. You would think there was a kind of record already). Until today after numerous customer service phone call. There is absolutely no answer, every time they would say they are waiting for a response from their support team. By the way you can't talk to their "support team", and they can't even tell you if you are going to get a reply in a week or month or a year. And now it way passed the IRS deadline . I filed an IRS claim through Innovation Refunds on December 23rd 2022. Nothing but problems! 1. Was initially verbally quoted a 20% commission for filing. 2. Guaranteed they would "handle everything." 3. After significant time spent gathering tax returns signed a contract for their representation for 25%. 4. Claim was supposedly filed with the IRS on January 10th 2023 5. After a year I contacted Innovation Refunds to check on claim only to be informed they are a "soliciting agency" and do not handle the claims directly. 6. After hours spent contacting the IRS it turned out they had not filed properly so I had to repeat send all returns directly to the IRS myself. 7. Finally on November 6th 2025 (three years later) received notice from the IRS that they would be processing payment for one quarter and that I should expect payment within six to eight weeks. 8. Within one week Innovation Refunds emailed me an invoice that didn't even detail what quarter(s) the invoice was for. 9. I contacted them informing them that I had not received that payment. They said they would note my account. 10. Within another week I received invoices. These invoices detailed specific quarters. I hadn't received notification from the IRS for these payments being released. Once again emailed and called that I had not received these payments to which they responded - "when you receive payments email them copies of the checks and then pay per our agreement." 11. Note that I was informed on several occasions that they could not offer status on my account because they do not have access to that information when in fact they had information on my account that I haven't even received from the IRS! 12. Continue to get daily invoice reminders including a threat to initiate collection. 13. Total misrepresentation of their services and harassing. Completely unethical business practice attempting to collect for services not rendered.

Upon receiving our refund checks we have been harassed constantly about our payments to this company! We have sent checks to them within days of our refunds from the IRS and they have done nothing but harass us, even as far as threatening to sue us! I just got off the phone and asked to talk to a supervisor and was told it would take 48-72 hours! I tried to explain that the check was cashed by them but they didn't have a record, therefore wanted proof after I gave them the check number, amount and date it was sent? Seriously?? Now they want us to do there bookkeeping for them? Give me a break! I have never been treated like this ever! Buyer BEWARE!

They keep trying to collect what I've already paid and not received

Reversed the ERC claim and sent checks back. Have sent more than enough proof that I never cashed the checks, voided them, and returned them to the IRS along with 941x returns reversing the ERC. However, they still send me invoices. No one I originally worked with is available and it is always the same call center people who are zero help.
