About HPP Cares

HPP CARES CDE is a California nonprofit HUD Approved consumer credit, debt, and housing counseling agency. Our organization understands the challenges the average consumer faces when it comes to being overextended with financial constraints such as debt. Knowing this, we are committed to educating consumers with an emphasis on financial literacy. Our certified HUD Approved housing counselors provide personal assistance through budget counseling, housing counseling, and debt management strategies to lower interest rates and monthly payments. We can address the issues at hand by improving access to credit for low-to-moderate income and historically underserved communities (BIPOC) households through qualified programs that identify and support them. These include but are not limited to affordable housing, homeownership, small business technical assistance, financial literacy, and economic development, ultimately establishing the framework needed for sustaining communities, neighborhoods, and households. It is unfortunate that in 2022 essential skills regarding the management of household finances are lacking in K-12 education. A lack of financial literacy leads many consumers to learn these lessons the hard way, putting them in difficult positions that can be tough to recover from. To further address existing issues, our agency implements the latest multilingual technology bridging the divide to ensure consumers from any background have access to the resources and knowledge they need to make sound decisions and better their financial situations.

Genesis is incredibly professional and…
Genesis is incredibly professional and efficient. I’ve had over 5 different project managers circulate in and out for my ADU grant process, and Genesis is hands down the best! She was quick to respond, proactive, and helped me find solutions wherever we ran into issues. Wonderful experience with Genesis!

Giving points and credits where they…
Giving points and credits where they are due. HPP Cares has come a very long way since the ADU grant started. I personally went through 3 HPP Cares managers that didn't know more than a door knob. The latest manager, Nancy is on par. Love her! Called get answer right away instead of a voicemail or a email that doesn't get a response back for days on end. She knows her stuff inside out. Helps with explaining things down to plain English. Thank you for that Nancy. I appreciate the time and effort into how HPP Cares have made their adjustment into the adu grant and making easier for consumers to understand and navigate through the adu grant process. It wasn't before. But now it is.

HPP Cares about our future
Our ADU journey would not look the same without HPP cares. If we were to do this without their grant, support, and guidance there is no telling when we would have started our project. This organization has given us the confidence to move forward and build an ADU and hopefully, that leads to a brighter future for our family. We hope the organization gains the support it needs to help many more families!

ADU not possible without HPP Cares
HPP Cares has been an amazing partner in helping me fund and build my ADU. The cost of building an ADU is so high that I wouldn't have been able to build one with the grant administered by HPP Cares. Denys and Katherine were SO helpful in answering and troubleshooting all my issues and concerns. I highly recommend HPP Cares and hope the state of CA continues to make funding available to solve our housing shortage.
