I completed and paid for the initial process, including laboratory testing. When it came time to move forward with my consultation, I learned that Hone requires identity verification involving a photo ID and selfie through their approved identity-verification system. I informed Hone that I do not consent to biometric data collection or processing. I made it very clear that I am completely willing to verify my identity through other reasonable means, including showing my government-issued ID or participating in a live video verification. Hone confirmed to me in writing that they will not provide an alternative verification method and that they will not allow me to proceed with treatment without completing their required verification process. I then requested a refund because I cannot use the service without agreeing to a verification process I do not consent to. Hone refused a full refund because my laboratory testing had already been completed. What has made the experience even more frustrating is the customer-service process. My first detailed request received an automated AI-generated response instead of meaningful assistance. I then had to specifically request a human representative, and I am now requesting escalation to management. I am not refusing to verify my identity. I am refusing to consent to biometric data processing and offered multiple reasonable alternatives. Consumers who have concerns about biometric privacy should understand this requirement before paying for Hone’s services.
