Easy to install and works flawlessly

I've had four RYSE smart shades which were purchased less than three years ago. Over the years, I've had to battle with each one of them to get basic functionality working. The smart shades frequently jam and I've broken countless metal ball chains. The units unfortunately don't seems to have a safety mechanism in place to stop the motor when things don't work as expected. This has resulted in damaged smart shade devices, sprockets, broken chains, and damaged walls. I've spent close to $600 on these units and at least another $200 in chains and wall repairs over the years. I've had only several months of combined usage. I think the longest I've gone without any issues has been a two week period. When I tried reaching out to customer support after I noticed the motor on one of the units died, I went through over a week of back and fourth only to be told my unit is not covered under warranty. This ideally should have been their first response. Further, I was told I'd be sent a coupon code from the support person to help me purchase a new unit but that never arrived either. Overall I can't recommend this product. It is too expense, doesn't work well, and their customer service is lacking as well.

I have to say that this product is extremely disappointing and far from being functional or reliable. The ball chains frequently break or get jammed because the motor does not maintain the correct tension. Even worse, if the chain is pulled too tightly, the wall-mounting brackets can detach from the motor, causing the entire unit to fall off its support. Another frustrating issue is that the motors repeatedly lose their programmed settings, requiring constant readjustment of the upper and lower stop positions. The mounting system is also poorly designed. If you have walls next to your windows, you can secure the brackets using the supplied screws. However, if you have floor-to-ceiling glass panels, as we do in our home, you’re forced to rely on the double-sided adhesive, which comes loose practically every two days. Overall, the design, functionality, and reliability leave a lot to be desired. For a product that is supposed to make everyday life easier, it creates far more problems than it solves. Unfortunately, this is another poorly engineered, made-in-China product that fails to deliver on its promises. Definitely not worth the money. I would not recommend it to anyone.
