About Hear and Play Music

At Hear and Play Music and the Gospel Music Training Center, our passion is helping musicians worldwide unlock the art of playing the piano by ear. Founded in 2000 by Jermaine Griggs, we have dedicated decades to teaching the dynamic skill of understanding and interpreting music through ear training, music theory, and recognizing patterns. Our focus is on soulful music genres that best express this art form, including gospel, jazz, blues, soul, R&B, and pop.We believe that playing by ear transcends traditional music learning methods, allowing musicians to experience and express music in a deeply personal way. Our specialized approach teaches students to hear recurring themes in songs and interpret them creatively on the piano.Over the years, we have reached and serviced more than 2 million musicians through various platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, our email newsletter, free lessons, comprehensive paid courses, and a personalized coaching program. Our resources are designed to cater to learners at different stages of their musical journey, from beginners to advanced players.Hear and Play Music and the Gospel Music Training Center is more than just a teaching platform; it's a community where musicians come together to share, learn, and celebrate the joy of music. I believe I will eventually be able to apply the concepts
I was encouraged by seeing the recital. I’m still struggling because I can’t write out the notes fast enough to practice the riffs, ups and downs techniques for each progressions. I am visual and learning to be audible. I want to purchase that technology that I’ve seen clients use to help with a particular song. “Mixiology and transformer.

Great Caring and Supportive Learning Environmentt
Since I’ve embarked on this thrilling adventure as a beginner in the VIP Coaching Programme, I've been swept away by the joy, the challenges and fulfillment it brings. Imagine unlocking many skills and techniques you never knew existed! That's precisely what's been happening to me. With every chord progression I learn to play, I'm breaking through barriers and playing songs I once only dreamed of playing. But here's the real magic: the unwavering support and guidance from our team of coaches. These folks are not just instructors; they're mentors, and cheerleaders, rolled into one. In our practice sessions, it's all about you and your growth as a musician. Whether you're grappling with a tricky passing chord or have a question they are there for you every step of the way. And let's talk about Dr. Onye—our dynamic teacher and the heartbeat of this VIP program. His passion for music is infectious, infusing every session with warmth, enthusiasm, and pure, unadulterated joy. So here's the thing: if you've ever toyed with the idea of taking your music to new heights, the VIP Coaching Program is your golden ticket.
