These people are dishonest
These people are dishonest. I am a 76 year-old woman and suffer from hearing loss. I purchased hearing aids from Peninsula Hearing of Port Townsend, WA, an affiliate of Hear.com. This was on May 29, 2018 and I signed a contract that specified that I could return them within 45 days if I was dissatisfied with them. After trying for a week, I experienced significant pain and itching and returned them. I was given new and different ones which I tried with the same result: great pain and itching. Additionally, neither device worked properly or provided me with meaningful relief from my hearing problem. I communicated my concerns to Peninsula Hearing and was told to "push through it." This was not acceptable. Furthermore, Peninsula Hearing and later Hear.com was uncommunicative and unhelpful as if they were trying to "run out the clock." On July 16th I said I wanted to return them for good but was told I was "two days too late!" The 45 day trial did not begin on May 29th when I got the first "device," but on June 8th, the date I was given the second(and different) hearing aids. Since July 16th, Peninsula Hearing and Hear.com have stonewalled me even though I have paid $4,800 and have received a totally inadequate and dangerous product. I have since returned the devices to Hear.com and have demanded a refund without any response from the companies. Peninsula Hearing and Hear.com have shown bad faith and dishonesty while preying on a vulnerable and elderly citizen. Carolyn R. Prescott
Response from hear.comNov 8, 2019
Hi Carolyn, I apologize for the confusion. We offer a 45 day risk-free trial, and if you are not completely satisfied with the devices we do offer the possibility of switching into other devices. This does restart your trial period. We also offer a 100% refund if you return the devices within the 45 day trial period. I've just reviewed all the documents and notes on your account. Your second trial began on June 8th, 2019 meaning you'd need to return the devices by July 23rd, 2019. The hearing aids were physically returned to the office on July 31st, 2019. On September 5th, we sent a shipping label to the provider to ship them to your home since they had not been picked up. Again, I apologize for any confusion this may have caused. If there's anything else we can clarify, please feel free to email us at [email protected].
