Very disappointed in the initial contact. I am a retired family physician and did many referrals for hearing loss. My wife has a real problem and finally today made contact. A very pleasant lady called and directed us to a local assessment center and said that she would make the appointment. BUT, before that happened, she would like to have our credit card number and make a $1.00 charge and the hearing assessment would be a $80.00 charge. Since I have never had a patient charged for a hearing test to see if they needed a hearing aid, all of this was more than a little “off putting” and did not happen. When she called later to book the appointment, we decided to end the relationship. Not good business practice!

Hi Kenneth! Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. I've reached out privately in order to get some additional information to locate your account to see exactly what happened. I'm looking forward to helping you. Updated hear.com response: Hi Jean! Thank you for getting back to me to explain your situation. I'm sorry that our service didn't meet your expectations. Since our partners are licensed audiologists they can charge a fee for the consultation and the test. To schedule your appointment we place a $1 hold on a card, which will drop off within a couple of days. The reason we collect a $1 hold is because we have a cancellation policy, as many doctor's offices do. If you decide you want to cancel your appointment there's no charge, however, if you don't show up without calling or informing the provider there's a $50 charge. We've set these policies to protect everyone's time. We do appreciate your feedback, and hope we can work together in the future! - hear.com team
