simple, I was quoted $30, had the appointment, got the receipt for $30, then 9 days later got an email that something changed with my insurance and I now have an outstanding balance of over $330. Based on the amount of similar complaints, this seems to be their business practice. wholly unethical.

DO NOT SEEK THERAPY HERE! Like others below, I too had my insurance (Blue Shield of CA) run and confirmed as in-network with Headway, only to be emailed 2 months later that this was a mistake. There is no phone number or email to talk to someone at Headway, and after scheduling a call with a rep through their chat bot, I have still not heard from anyone. It has been 3 weeks. My therapist has been amazing in making sure I get the care I need, but it should not be on the therapist to ensure safe billing and coverage for their patients. This company needs to be investigated for their practices. They do not "Find Therapists Covered By Your Insurance."

Avoid at all cost. Not a trustworthy business. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with their support, then with Aetna to ensure that my sessions would be covered after copay. They both confirmed that this was the case. Months later I receive a message saying I actually have to pay in full because the sessions aren’t covered under my plan. Not sure if it was Headway or Aetna that is responsible for this mistake, but I know for sure that I should not be.

Told me I would be credentialed by BCBS in November by latest in January 2024. It is now May 2024 and I have lost six clients that have trusted me for years and am not credentialed. After I followed up, not Headway credentialing, they told me a couple of weeks ago you never sent my paperwork in for BCBS so now I have to wait 90 more days. I have lost so much money and so many clients.

How can a mental health website CHARGED for cancelations? Everyday I wake up differently due to my illness... and I may have to cancel. Yet they think it's ok to charge $75 everyday. Thats an insane amount of money for nothing. Meanwhile, the therapists on this website cancel and reschedule CONSTANTLY!!!!!!!!!

I am a therapist who has used this platform and all was going well for 4 months until suddenly I received emails telling me 3 of my clients' insurance is actually NOT covered. They said that two more sessions would be covered partially in the email, but it is unclear on how that will happen and how much the patient will be charged. Now treatment is being disrupted for these clients and clinical care is on the line. Headways help service is terrible. There is no phone number to call, you have to submit online help tickets which sometimes don't take because their tech system glitches. Even if it does submit, you may be lucky to get one response per day which is unacceptable given time limited clinical issues that impact whether my clients can be seen this week or not. I can't get any reassurance that this issue won't continue, so why would I keep taking on clients that they can't actually verify insurance accurately for? The lack of ability to get help is a major problem. These tech companies don't fully realize the industry they are dealing with. *** edited to LAUGH at their reply offering the same contract form I’ve filled out numerous times this week with basically NO response or help. Now my clients are missing their critical mental health services. Unacceptable.

I am on EAP and have been surprise-charged $109-370 FOUR TIMES so far. How is a company whose sole job is booking and billing patients THIS BAD at their ONE JOB?? They're surprise billing mental health patients who are on assistance programs. This app has legitimately added more anxiety to my life which is absolutely absurd. THERAPISTS AND PATIENTS please look elsewhere.
