My college-age daughter used this service because they are in-network with our insurance. They did not submit claims to insurance despite being an in-network provider. They refused to submit them after I pointed out the problem. This caused me to be overcharged and miss out on having the claim apply to my deductible. Then, once they finally submitted the claims, they charged above the max allowed by the insurance. I am doing everything I can to get them to fix it but they will not. Do not use this platform if you are hoping to use your insurance.

I do not recommend using Headway at all, especially if you intend to use insurance benefits. They charge you and claim they will reimburse you if charged incorrectly. I was charged four times incorrectly four months ago. When we’ve sought reconciliation, they claim they will not file with insurance until insurance tells them to — which makes no sense at all. They are keeping our money, and I believe their intent is to scam people.

Headway is AWFUL - they wrongfully billed an old insurance plan of mine for over a month and it took weeks for them to correct their mistake. They also charged me for a session that I was covered for and I have no idea when I'll be refunded for it. There's no number to call for customer service, so you're at the will of random emails. There's no urgency on their end and they are extremely unhelpful.

Honestly, where do I even begin? They take money out of what gets billed to the client, but advertise to you like they don't. They can't get credentialling correct and that's their primary JOB. They've countlessly messed up credentialling applications for me. Their communication between departments is NULL. Their responses are NEVER helpful. I ALWAYS have to do THEIR job for them. If there was any other semi-affordable credentialling company, I would leave and go there. But as a private practice and sole practitioner, options are limited unless you have a million dollars. Summed up, they are frustrating and incompetent. It's like working FOR an insurance company.

I have been using Headway since October 2024 and now, all of the sudden, six months later, they are charging me for two session cost corrections because (according to my insurance) they didn't file the claims on time. Either way, I should not be responsible for this cost. Headway should provide proof of timely filing to UMR and handle this on their own as the party responsible for filing the claim. I have opened support tickets and the response has been vague and purposefully misleading. Don't risk using this service!

Please don't use this company. My therapy sessions were initially estimated to cost $50; after my insurance review, the cost was lowered to $25. Great, right? After my third session, I received an email that my sessions are now $140 ($420 so far.. all sessions). I received an email from my insurance company stating that I also owed a similar amount ($144.43 per session, totaling $433.29). For a total of $853.29 for three hours of talking, no no. Let's assume the therapist charges $140; we are paying Headway an additional $140, plus fees. And that doesn't seem right, especially for online therapy. I feel silly for falling into this trap and not doing more research, but I just wanted help. We are looking for help, and instead, we get scams. It is a very unethical world!

Very Frustrating especially when you’re looking for help and finally made a decision to seek support. Miscommunication and billing for unconfirmed meetings. Be aware, it’s not an easy dashboard to navigate. Missed a meeting and was on a different platform and was charged. Didn’t show for a meeting since I didn’t check my email. Laura Wong argued booking me an appointment I wasn’t aware of and paid nearly $100 for a no show. Not fair. There are easier apps out there.

Charged me $25 for a visit per my ACTIVE INSURANCE I'D BEEN USING OVER A YEAR. My husband added me to his insurance -I was then double insured- where Headway retroactively charged me AGAIN based on the secondary insurance cost, which was five times more than through the other insurance. This is theft, and I'm fairly certain fraudulent to boot.
