I don't think it's professional reeling people in by saying the copay cost is going to be 10 dollars and then saying "sike" your insurance wasn't compatible so you end up paying 17 times the amount AFTER the service is provided.
People want to know how much something costs, please cross check the insurance before inviting people into the sessions. This is very predatory practice.

My therapist was very unprofessional in…
My therapist was very unprofessional in many ways. Texted me one night at 9:30 pm about billing. Tried to charge for in-office visits (which I did NOT have) and then wants to say “in his professional opinion” I would do better with a female therapist. What a joke.

I got the time of my appointment wrong and they charged me 180 dollars
I got the time of my appointment wrong. I was 50 minutes late, thinking I was 10 minutes early. Tyler Davis said it was fine and rescheduled me for the following week. However, it wasn't fine, and they charged me 180 dollars for a missed apt.
I explained that I had a painful surgical procedure (on my birthday) Tuesday - it was unexpected, but I've been on pain meds, and I honestly thought my apt was at 11 on Weds. I sat in bed waiting, and reminded my family multiple times that I wouldn't be available. I fully intended to be at the appointment (even though my sister had also just surprised me by coming into town for our birthday)- and I was there...I just was wrong about the time, but she charged me 180 dollars anyway....for being late. Once.
The fact that our first session was 20 minutes of the service failing to connect, connecting, and dropping, until we just did a straight phone call, doesn't help.
I will say the customer service rep, Alleah Medina, (once I got past the bot) was fantastic. She helped me close my account with minimal frustration.

The customer service is poor.
The customer service here sucks, tried to cancel my provider on there because of issues and they want me to reach out directly to the provider to cancel. Even though I said I DO NOT want to reach out to them due to issues.
There should be a cancel all future appointments with this provider option. This is a therapy company? Definitely not ran by anyone who has ever done therapy in real life.

Deceptive Billing Practices Left Me With Hundreds in Surprise Charges
I was quoted $0 per session by Headway’s platform based on my insurance information after they reached out to my insurance company and got authorization. That estimate was a major reason I chose to begin therapy on that platform. Over a month (and many sessions later) I was informed I would be billed for over $160 per session, with no prior warning. That’s not a small difference and definitely not within a reasonable margin of error on an estimate.
When I reached out, I was told that the $0 quote was “just an estimate,” despite there being no indication that it could vary so dramatically and given no indication of what the maximum amount I could pay was. This feels grossly misleading at best, and is downright predatory at worst. I now have unexpected charges totaling hundreds of dollars because I trusted the information Headway gave me. So far my experience with their client care team has been a complete lack of accountability for their lack of due diligence aside from weak "apologies" that offer me no further options or recourse.
For people with limited income, this kind of financial whiplash can be devastating. Their system should not be giving quotes of $0 if it can’t back them up within a reasonable range.

Problematic insurance verification and billing practice
BEWARE. I am a provider who started using Headway in March for insurance credentialing and billing. The Headway provider portal verified that I could see a client for Telehealth while she was in my state for college. After 6 sessions, Headway informed me that the services I had already provided would not be billable to this clients insurance company because they needed to be pre authorized. My client has been charged just her co pays by Headway but now may be charged all costs by her insurance company. If Headway does not take responsibility for their mistake I will end my work with Headway and reimburse this client the unbillable insurance costs. This is completely outrageous. I recommend people reconsider using Headway as providers and clients due to their problematic verification and billing practices.

Headway charged incorrectly and ends up…
Headway charged incorrectly and ends up sending hills 6-7 months later. Be wary
