Headway clearly doesn't vet the validity of the therapists that join their platform and their associated profiles against their actual practices. After a terrible session with a fraudulent therapist, Headway was notified and they did nothing. Additionally, a few weeks later the therapist scheduled a day-of appointment with no warning and then charged a cancellation fee. Headway pushes everything off to the therapist as their responsibility as the therapist points back to the service. Headway is running a damaging platform for people just looking for reliable and trustworthy care and business practices.

My experience with Headway has been extremely frustrating and honestly feels deceptive. They failed to maintain an accurate, up-to-date list of in-network providers. I completed 5 sessions under the assumption my provider was in-network, only to later be told they were not. Then, they attempted to retroactively reclassify those sessions as out-of-network and bill me accordingly. To make matters worse, over a year later, I received another notice claiming they had still processed things incorrectly and that I now owe even more money. This kind of billing behavior is unacceptable. Patients rely on platforms like this to provide accurate insurance information. Instead, I was hit with surprise charges long after services were completed—something that appears to go directly against the intent of the No Surprises Act. At a minimum, this shows a serious lack of accountability and transparency. At worst, it feels like a system designed to shift financial responsibility onto patients after the fact. I would strongly caution anyone using this service to verify everything independently with your insurance provider before starting care—because you cannot rely on Headway to get it right.

My husband set around waiting for his call for his 1st appointment. No one call. Apparently they emailed him instead. He was never informed that this would be the method of contract. He was billed $200 for a missed appointment. He was told he would have to pay it. Headway sent him a message, admitting to not informing him of the proper procedure and that they were pretty much at fault, after he paid the charge. They never offered to refund his $200. We highly recommend you do not deal with this company.

Predatory practices. Will tell you they take insurance and then you get charged for all your visits months later. Stay away!

Zero stars. They don’t call when scheduled. Complete waste of time. Find other means of help.

Avoid like the plague - If you have any stress in your life, this will just make it worse. Customer service won't refund charges for services not rendered even though they are the ones doing the card charges and say it's the therapists. Had the therapist Ashley Pipes who refused to refund for an issue that was not my fault. Getting recurring bills for $1. Asked to remove credit card. Go to another provider. Do not give them your credit card information.

Billing bait and switch. Gave a low initial estimate and then charged me for way more! When I tried to ask about it the chat is extremely slow (5-10 minutes) for each question to drag it out and try to encourage you to give up.

I’ve never searched for mental health support before, but I saw Headway and figured I’d give it a try. When I uploaded all of my health insurance information, they gave me an estimated copay of $25. However, when I actually met with the provider, all he did was ask random questions and forget what I had just told him. By the end of the call, he had prescribed me an antidepressant, which is crazy because I never once mentioned being depressed. Now, two months later, I’m surprised by a $277 bill for that single visit. I never picked up the medication, nor did I schedule another visit with any other provider. After looking at my insurance claims, I saw Headway charged my insurance $600! For what? For a random person they added to their network to ask questions that didn't even pertain to the treatment I was seeking? To those of you looking for help, please stay AWAY from Headway. As the title says, all they do is BAIT and SWITCH.
