Happy that they have a warranty program for replacement flaps but they are still expensive for the Giant flaps when I need to replace them almost every year. We have had several Hale doors in various homes and with different sized dogs. The Giant flaps tear at the top corner. Hale customer service is aware of this problem. Initially, the rep was sure my Danes were too tall. We installed this Giant door in this home about 5 inches from the floor. So, the Danes are actually 3-4" shorter than the top of the door flap. With that, they agreed the door is the appropriate size. And, they have no fix for the flaps tearing except for me to purchase new flaps almost every year under the warranty which eventually will be full price. **2016--The original installer is coming over to install the replacement flaps and he suggested rounding out the corners of the metal edge at the top where the flaps attach. We are hoping this will solve the problem.

The Hale Pet Door is a very high quality product. It is relatively easy to install and keeps the wind and cold air out of the house. The metal security door slides in easily and further insulates the door from the cold. The magnets are very strong, so it too my 8 pound dogs a day or two to get used to opening the flaps, because our old doggie door had weaker magnets. There is a dip between the inside and outside frames that I filled in with a strip of wood to make it easier on our dogs paws. Although relatively expensive, it is 10 times better than the relatively inexpensive plastic doggie doors.

I am quite impressed with the quality of the Hale Pet Doors. I installed two doors and love the design. Each door has two flaps with magnets strong enough to prevent bug, gnat, and mosquito entry, yet still allow pet access. Each door has weather stripping, which helps prevent chafing while making the door energy efficient. The flaps fit snugly enough such that I could not hear a conversation between two people on the other side of the door. Training took about a week for all four dogs. Excellent product!

I recently purchased a replacement door flap to replace the replacement door flap I bought last year. It's a nice heavy flap that fits the opening in the Hale Pet Door perfectly. It was a little tricky to install, but last year's flap developed a crack in the upper right hand corner of the flap - the same place the original flap had torn. Hoping this year's flap doesn't do the same thing and have to be replaced again in a year. (I have two dogs that use the door.)

The door was very easy to install. It took me longer to remove the pane of glass in my French door than it did to install the Hale. The measure was spot on. Construction of the door is top- notch and it looks as. Good as a pet door can. In fact if you don't look too hard, you may not even notice there's a door there. I recommend this door highly. It only took the cat a couple of days to get used to it.
