Grow is a mental health platform built to enable progress — connecting people with thousands of qualified therapists vetted across specialties, identities, and lived experiences, covered by insurance. We didn't begin with a theory about the market. We began with someone trying to help someone they loved, with the realization that when someone you care about needs mental health support, the system can feel cold, confusing, expensive, and built to wear people down. So we built something better to help people find care they can afford, stay with, and actually feel supported by — care that doesn't just work, but makes progress possible. We are not only for crisis. We are for all the moments when someone decides they want more: more support, more clarity, more tools. Because our goal isn't just to help people feel better — it's to help people achieve their goals in life. That starts with finding the right therapist, which is why we make it easy to search by specialty, language, cultural background, and identity, with care covered by insurance, appointments available in as little as 2 days, and most clients paying around $21 per session. Many pay $0, and self-pay and sliding scale options are also available. We are committed to a mental health experience that's easier to begin, more affordable to maintain, and grounded in trust — rethinking not just how people access care, but how care feels, because life doesn't pause between sessions, and with Grow, support doesn't either. So far, 15 million sessions have started on Grow, each one a step forward for someone, somewhere, building the life they've always wanted. With 220M lives covered, appointments offered virtually or in-person, including evenings and weekends, and clear cost estimates with no subscriptions to worry about, it's no surprise that 80%+ of Grow clients report feeling better after starting therapy. Because I’m going through Kaiser, if I miss 2 appointments in a 3 month time span, I lose my therapist. As someone with adhd and depression, that really seems to defeat the purpose. Most people who feel the way I feel and NEED therapy, miss appointments more often than that. Because we are depressed and have adhd!!!! That’s just how it is- it’s too strict. There’s not even an option to pay a fine to be able to stay with your therapist. I finally bonded really well with my therapist and accidentally missed an appointment in that window, and now I can’t see her again. So I have to start over. I think it’s dangerous to do that to patients, especially people who might be feeling severely unwell and relying on therapy to keep them afloat. I don’t think Grow Therapy should affiliate with Kaiser unless they become more lenient on that rule. If I had lost the therapist I just lost at a different time in my life, I would have been in an extremely unsafe mind state. Also, my family gets extremely mad at me if I’m not actively in therapy weekly. So I over slept 2x and missed those 2 appointments in that 3 month window. Now months and months are just gone from my hands with my doctor. Now I have to start over new. I don’t believe it’s ethical to give patients no way to continue with their therapist if they aren’t following Kaisers rules like soldiers. I also had constant anxiety about missing one too many appointments and losing my therapist which just honestly made me feel worse. Grow Therapy, I don’t think it’s a good idea to continue to practice with Kaiser. That could end in (not me) someone dying. It’s serious and extremely careless to put these rules on people who might be mentally ill and having a difficult time remembering appointments.

We completely understand your concerns, and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us. The referral process for individuals using Kaiser works a little differently that other payors on our platform. Due to fee exceptions these individuals are subjected to, we’ve implemented an optional policy for our providers use at their own discretion to determine if continuity of care with another provider is appropriate if they are unable to connect with the individual for their session on more than two occasions during a three month time period. Our goal is to prevent the disruption of appointment availability, and ensure that our providers are offering the best quality of service to those they serve. We understand the importance of these decisions and that each case could vary in circumstances, which is why we never take these situations lightly. Our team always available to work with individuals to investigate these cases when unexpected situations may come up to make sure that all individuals can get the care they deserve. I’m sorry for any frustration you may have experienced during this process. We’re are actively working to simplify the appointment management process based on valuable feedback like yours. If you need further assistance or have more concerns, please don’t hesitate to let us know at [email protected]! Best, Grow Therapy Support Team
