Great experience
Gina makes the experience great by listening and questioning. Perfect combo.

Grow is a mental health platform built to enable progress — connecting people with thousands of qualified therapists vetted across specialties, identities, and lived experiences, covered by insurance. We didn't begin with a theory about the market. We began with someone trying to help someone they loved, with the realization that when someone you care about needs mental health support, the system can feel cold, confusing, expensive, and built to wear people down. So we built something better to help people find care they can afford, stay with, and actually feel supported by — care that doesn't just work, but makes progress possible. We are not only for crisis. We are for all the moments when someone decides they want more: more support, more clarity, more tools. Because our goal isn't just to help people feel better — it's to help people achieve their goals in life. That starts with finding the right therapist, which is why we make it easy to search by specialty, language, cultural background, and identity, with care covered by insurance, appointments available in as little as 2 days, and most clients paying around $21 per session. Many pay $0, and self-pay and sliding scale options are also available. We are committed to a mental health experience that's easier to begin, more affordable to maintain, and grounded in trust — rethinking not just how people access care, but how care feels, because life doesn't pause between sessions, and with Grow, support doesn't either. So far, 15 million sessions have started on Grow, each one a step forward for someone, somewhere, building the life they've always wanted. With 220M lives covered, appointments offered virtually or in-person, including evenings and weekends, and clear cost estimates with no subscriptions to worry about, it's no surprise that 80%+ of Grow clients report feeling better after starting therapy. The first therapist I had said she was leaving her job for another one only after I saw her for three visits disrupting my care. It took weeks to find another one. The second therapist canceled my weekly appointment after my first one without any explanation or discussion at all and scheduled it for over a month later. I contacted her and she changed it. Halfway through only my second meeting with her, she abruptly said to me (in short), that I was a victim, I hated men, I should give up my apartment and move in with my mom, and I should sell my business until I “got everything under control “. She also told me my business coach was stupid and I needed to take responsibility for my part in my problems. I pushed back that we haven't talked long enough for anyone to make those assumptions and she said, "fair enough." When I said that I was there for emotional and psychological support while I was going through some really hard things to help process the trauma I have without judgement, not get life and business coaching from her, she said that she couldn’t do that for me - ISN'T SHE SUPPOSED TO BE A THERAPIST?!? I've had two therapists with GrowTherapy. After a handful of meetings, my first therapist quits (why take new clients if you know you are going to be leaving?), and not even getting through a whole two visits into the second one without being attacked. I don't understand. This was so demeaning. I complained to Support, they apologized, said they take complaints seriously - they would investigate, and said I should pick another therapist. At this point I don't know the vetting process at GrowTherapy but I have little confidence in them. The process of picking a therapist is just looking at bios and pictures, it does list areas of specialty but clearly, they are meaningless because instead of getting an empathetic ear to help me process my CPTSD, I ended up dumped by a person who was supposed to be support for me and verbally attacked by another. There is no way to really know what you're putting your trust in, and Support leaves you alone to deal with the aftermath. The interactions I had with their therapist has set me back. Now I get triggered around meeting other therapists. I cannot use GrowTherapy again even though I really need it. I'm still looking but it's much harder after this experience. The second therapist said I was a complicit victim in my life. I'm writing this review to not be just a passive victim to her. I hope it makes her proud. If I could give negative stars I would.

Grow Therapy has allowed me to find 2 different providers that have worked for me. I have struggled with mental health issues for some time, and I was always scared to seek out care. Both providers that I have worked with have been kind and supportive. Grow Therapy makes it easy to find a provider that works for you and the payment, management of communications, and website itself, takes away any stress with going to therapy.

I am not new to therapy so I am somewhat familiar with how it goes. When I signed up for Grow Therapy, I was excited because it was virtual, convenient, and accepted my insurance. The first appt was very bland. I thought this was because it was the initial session and we were just getting to know each other. The next session was soooooo unbelievably unconfortable because of the awkward silence. I honestly think the therapist was falling asleep. She was not talkative and did not even seem interested. It was over in less than 15 mins. With this experience, I do not recommend and will be going back to BetterHelp instead.
