Hi John, thanks for sharing this. We can definitely understand how seeing two bids at the same amount could be confusing! For auctions using automated bidding, if two bidders enter the same maximum bid, the bidder who entered that amount first will be the winner. The bidding method itself is also selected by the organization running the auction. We hope that helps clear things up a bit! Organizations also have flexibility over how tipping appears on their campaigns, including the option to customize the tipping experience or remove the option from their checkout altogether, depending on what works best for their community. We were able to locate your conversation with our Support team, and we’re absolutely happy to refund the $30 tip that was added unintentionally while keeping your original contribution intact. However, because the full transaction was disputed through PayPal, the funds are currently being held as part of that dispute, which means we’re unable to issue a separate refund while the dispute is active. If the PayPal dispute is withdrawn, our team can move forward with refunding the $30 tip. Otherwise, we’ll need to wait for PayPal’s dispute process to conclude before the funds can be addressed. In some cases, identity verification is required before certain changes can be made to payout information. These verification requirements are in place to help protect accounts and funds, and unfortunately, we’re unable to bypass them or offer an alternative verification method when they’re required. We also want to clarify that the identity verification request was a security measure required to update your payout information and was not related to the fraudulent activity you experienced with your card.
