Complete waste of money
One person came, not two as promised. There was a total lack of communication, I don’t speak Spanish, she didn’t speak English. We ordered the premium service and didn’t even get basic. The window frame in my bedroom was broken and left on the floor. Debris was on the wood floor and the carpet. The person came with no supplies & had to use our cleaning products, vacuuming was an afterthought, baseboards were not totally cleaned, the floor not thoroughly mopped, furniture was not dusted, and the bathrooms weren’t completely cleaned. For the price I paid, the service was a waste of money. I’m going to demand a total refund or stop payment through my bank.

Terrible service. Worse customer service. Do not hire them.
I hired Spruce for a move-out cleaning and unfortunately received a service that did not match the scope of work represented as completed. The cleaning itself was disappointing, but my experience trying to get assistance afterward has been equally frustrating.
After the service, I found multiple basic cleaning items that had not been completed. The floors remained dirty, there were removable scuff marks left on the walls, areas of the kitchen counters had not been wiped down, and visible dust and debris remained in multiple areas. These were ordinary cleaning items, several of which were specifically represented as completed on the service checklist.
I took photographs documenting the condition of the apartment after the service. The condition was significant enough that I went to my apartment office and rescheduled my move-out inspection because I was not comfortable returning the apartment in that state.
I then tried repeatedly to get assistance from Spruce. I used the available support channels and made multiple attempts to reach someone who could actually address the problem. Instead of being able to speak with someone who could resolve the issue, I encountered significant difficulty getting meaningful assistance or escalation. For a service that is particularly time-sensitive—especially a move-out cleaning when a tenant has a deadline to surrender an apartment—that lack of accessible support was a major problem.
I also submitted feedback through Spruce’s own review process and was subsequently informed that the review submitted through that process was not public. Because of that, I am sharing my experience publicly here.
I understand that cleaning services will not always be perfect, and mistakes can happen. I was not expecting perfection. I expected the basic services I purchased to be completed, the completion checklist to accurately reflect the work performed, and a reasonable way to get help when there was a problem.
I have photographs documenting the condition of the apartment following the service as well as records of my attempts to resolve the issue. I will update this review if Spruce ultimately provides a satisfactory resolution.

This company is horrible
This company is horrible. They canceled on me 30 minutes before my first ever clean and then rescheduled and then did the same thing the following day with little to no notice at all. They then gave me credits that I couldn’t even apply to the clean it had to wait for a following clean which I never had any intent on using them again after there poor customer service and scheduling. They finally clean the home and leave un swept spots and cobwebbs they did a horrible job and I would highly recommend using ANY other cleaning company except for this one. Don’t even waiste your time!

DO NOT RECOMMEND
I paid $174 for a deep cleaning service. When the technician left, most of the paid task list had not been completed: bedroom and living room were not dusted, the couch was not vacuumed, shower grout was not cleaned, baseboards were untouched, and the refrigerator — a paid add-on — still had food debris, dried herbs, and sticky residue throughout.
I requested a redo. The technician was a no-show during the agreed arrival window, and I only received a text after the window had passed saying someone would arrive over an hour later than promised. I had been waiting since 1 PM.
I requested a full refund in writing, twice. The company offered a $50 account credit (essentially asking me to pay $100+ more for the job to be done correctly), which I declined. They then unilaterally issued a $50 refund without my agreement, and I was subsequently charged an unexplained $35 with no invoice or communication.
I'm now disputing both charges with my card issuer. I have photo documentation of the incomplete work and the full email correspondence. Would not use this company again and would not recommend them.

Always satisfied
I have had 3 different people at various times and all have done excellent work. They arrived within the time frame that was given and my apartment was cleaned better than I could do. They were all very conscientious.

Horrible Service
I scheduled Spruce Housekeeping three weeks in advance for a move-out cleaning at Surfside Bay Apartments, where we had lived for one year.
Before the cleaners arrived, I personally went through the apartment to make sure everything was moved out and the place was ready to be cleaned. I did notice quite a few dead mayflies around the windows — apparently Surfside Bay’s pest-control strategy is to simply wait for the bugs to die of natural causes. There will be a separate review for the apartment complex. Stay tuned.
Back to Spruce.
The cleaners arrived, walked through the apartment, saw the dead bugs, and decided they would not clean the apartment because of what they called “mosquitoes.”
They weren’t mosquitoes. They were mayflies.
But honestly, who cares? THEY WERE DEAD.
I was under the apparently mistaken impression that removing dead bugs from floors and window areas was something that fell somewhere within the broad job description of a housekeeping company. I have also recently learned about an exciting new piece of technology called a vacuum cleaner, which seems particularly well suited for situations involving dead insects.
Spruce then texted me to say they would not be completing the cleaning.
Fine.
Except they also decided they were still going to keep the money I had already paid because, according to them, the appointment was “canceled within 48 hours.”
Small problem with that logic:
I DIDN’T CANCEL IT. THEY DID.
I scheduled the service three weeks in advance. I emptied the apartment. I showed up. The apartment was available. Spruce arrived and refused to perform the work.
Apparently, under Spruce mathematics:
Customer cancels = customer pays.
Spruce cancels = customer also pays.
That is an outstanding business model. I may start an airline where I cancel your flight and then charge you a cancellation fee for not flying.
So, two lessons from this experience:
1. If you need someone to actually clean something that is dirty, you may want to reconsider Spruce Housekeeping.
2. If you enjoy living with enough mayflies to frighten away a professional cleaning company, Surfside Bay Apartments may be exactly what you’re looking for.
Zero stars for the logic. Five stars for the creativity in figuring out how to get paid without doing the job.

Hi there, and thank you for your feedback.
We’re sorry your experience didn’t meet your expectations. We charge a cancelation fee for the cleaner's time and travel to assess a unit and attempt the service. While our teams always try to do the service booked, there are rare occasions where the unit is outside of our scope of services, and we are unable to complete what was booked. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any further questions or need assistance. We appreciate your input and are always looking to improve.

I booked and cleaning Spruce lady came
I booked and cleaning Spruce lady came. This was the 2nd time. She did a very poor job job, was very rushed and my apartment floors all throughout was filthy. I gave her space, left the apartment but when I returned to my dismayed, she not only cleaned poorly, she took my bathroom face towel, maybe to aggravate me or what! Was terrible experience. I sent many emails complaining about it, photos, video she missed cleaning and every time I asked to dust off some stuff like ceiling fan, balcony chairs, they are extra, so insane! Then they try to sell you their premium cleaning when with other companies what they overpriced are all included. I truly regret using them. I should have checked their reviews first. Please beware!
I’m demanding for a refund and I have filed a complaint too with BBB to expedite my complaint. Hope they resolve fast. But please to consumers, do not use Spruce. There many wonderful cleaning companies out there. This was my worst biggest mistake ever.
