To quickly recap, she extended her deepest condolences to me in response to my letting her know that the funeral activities that I had to implement in memory of my beloved sister delayed my planned visit to Quest Diagnostics for my lab tests. Accordingly, I would like to highly commend her. My commendation is predicated upon my belief and conviction that her delivery of this exemplary care should be positively reinforced. Good interaction and explanations of questions I had.

I booked a consultation with General Medicine.co staff a consultation and $150 fee with a single intent - to obtain a second opinion on the care plan developed for me by a local ID specialist. To facilitate and simplify the entire process, I developed and submitted a 14-page long write-up with all symptoms and the related lab work results, so the second opinion would be based on facts, not just hear-say. The write-up with the explicitly stated goal was extensively covered during my brief interaction with Raina G., MD and promptly submitted in its entirety the same day. I did never seek a care plan from Ms. G. since she is a general internist in her own words, and not an ID specialist. Instead of checking with an ID specialist and sending me back a 1-2 paragraph conclusion that rifampin-only treatment might not be the best option, she developed a full-scale care plan while simultaneously admitting that many aspects require additional lab work. It does not take a medical degree to realize that first you perform all required lab work and only then develop a care plan, not the other way around. Then I received three SMS messages (the staff strongly prefers using SMS instead of emails that are not saved and go away after some time) that made my frustration even stronger: One came from FNP Carrie H. that encouraged me to book another consultation (and spend another fee of $150) just to place a referral to an ID specialist. This was neither fair, nor professional. Second SMS message came from Karla N., MD with a general referral to an ID specialist. Since the care plan on which I need a second opinion was developed by a local ID specialist, referring me to an ID specialist does not add to the bottom line at all. Finally, I received another message that offered me a finalized list of nearby providers, although I already clearly stated in my previous email to the GeneralMedicine staff that I intend to go to UCSF ID clinic.

My experience with General Medicine has been exceptional from the outset. The website was easy to navigate and to fulfill a very important medical need. The staff are highly professional and understanding. I highly recommend General medicine for anyone looking for convenient, compassionate and high-quality medical care.
