I am very upset! I saw a very nice doctor I thought, but it turned out she was not that nice! She put me on Celebrex for my rheumatoid arthritis in my hands. Then I get these messages I have to have blood work done. The only trouble was I had to drive almost 60 miles to get this blood work done, there is no way on God's green earth I could do that! Then my second visit she said well I can't help you anymore and I can't renew your your prescription! I think that is simply terrible! I was not told anything about that in the very beginning. If I had been told I would have to drive about 60 miles from blood work I would have not had the appointment!

Stay away from this so-called clinic
I booked a consultation with General Medicine.co staff a consultation and $150 fee with a single intent - to obtain a second opinion on the care plan developed for me by a local ID specialist.
To facilitate and simplify the entire process, I developed and submitted a 14-page long write-up with all symptoms and the related lab work results, so the second opinion would be based on facts, not just hear-say.
The write-up with the explicitly stated goal was extensively covered during my brief interaction with Raina G., MD and promptly submitted in its entirety the same day.
I did never seek a care plan from Ms. G. since she is a general internist in her own words, and not an ID specialist.
Instead of checking with an ID specialist and sending me back a 1-2 paragraph conclusion that rifampin-only treatment might not be the best option, she developed a full-scale care plan while simultaneously admitting that many aspects require additional lab work. It does not take a medical degree to realize that first you perform all required lab work and only then develop a care plan, not the other way around.
Then I received three SMS messages (the staff strongly prefers using SMS instead of emails that are not saved and go away after some time) that made my frustration even stronger:
One came from FNP Carrie H. that encouraged me to book another consultation (and spend another fee of $150) just to place a referral to an ID specialist. This was neither fair, nor professional.
Second SMS message came from Karla N., MD with a general referral to an ID specialist. Since the care plan on which I need a second opinion was developed by a local ID specialist, referring me to an ID specialist does not add to the bottom line at all.
Finally, I received another message that offered me a finalized list of nearby providers, although I already clearly stated in my previous email to the GeneralMedicine staff that I intend to go to UCSF ID clinic.

Needed to renew the medication I’ve…
Needed to renew the medication I’ve been on without issue for 5 years now. It costs $100 without insurance for a 3 minute zoom call that will maybe get you a full year prescription if they deem you lucky enough. With insurance, they will quote you at $0 and then send you a text asking for $117 (more than paying out of pocket) and let you know you’ve got two days to cough that up for them. Unprofessional, exploitative, money grubbing excuse for healthcare. But hey, this is the USA. We all love to take it. Run from this place unless you’ve got a bunch of money burning a hole in your pocket and enjoy costly surprises!

Was charged a $100 no show they said for missing appointment.
I was available but did not get a notification or call for appt.
I did reschedule after finding out about the charge and received a msg I would be reimbursed , never was after they said it was for a video visit not a no show as stated previously in their msg.
I was also billed an additional $496.00 for medication that was supposed to be covered at my local pharmacy .
After a week they did reimburse the pharmacy fee that I never understood.
All said and done I wasted a couple of weeks of time and frustration, plus the hassle of getting my acct overcharged and never got the $ 100 back and was not approved.
Their customer service is only through chat or msg which is not customer friendly at all.
Don’t waste your time and be careful giving them your bank or credit card information!

Hi Charles,
Thank you for telling us about this. We know a charge like that can be a lot to see, and we want to make sure it’s clear.
Your visit had one charge, for the visit itself. The $496.12 came from the self-pay option selected for your medication at checkout. When you let us know you didn’t want to pick up the medication at that price, we refunded the full $496.12 on 9/23. We’ll email a copy of the refund receipt to the email address we have on file.
If anything still looks off, please email us at [email protected]. We’re glad to take another look.

No communication whatsoever at or after scheduled appointment time
Last night I discovered I was about to be out of my prescription (for anxiety and insomnia). My usual telehealth service increased in price, so I decided to try out general medicine. The fact that they had a $30 chat option to refill prescriptions was better than I was seeing elsewhere.
After filling out the forms, I paid and was told that I would hear from the assigned clinician at 12pm for a chat appointment (I assumed the the following day bc it was at around 8pmEDT that I paid on Tuesday). A little before 11 PM, I received a survey about anxiety, which I filled out when I saw it in the morning. Around 12:30pm Wednesday I then reminded them that I really need this prescription filled today because it’s for insomnia and I’m out completely.
I have yet to hear from a clinician, and it’s now 3:20 PM, and it’s looking very unlikely that they will send that prescription to the pharmacy with enough time to have it filled today. This is very disappointing and dangerous because I could have made my request elsewhere. There have been no responses to my messages at all.
Edit: it is now 6:00 PM and I still haven’t heard anything from anyone at this company.

Response from General MedicineOct 6, 2026
Hi Elif,
Thank you for telling us about this, and I'm sorry for the frustration.
Here's what happened. Our system sends a reminder automatically when a refill is due. Your refill request came in more than a week early, so that automatic reminder wasn't triggered.
We've contacted your pharmacy directly and called in your refills verbally. For any further concerns, please reach out to us at [email protected]

Awful from top to bottom
I made an appt for a simple medication request, symbicort for my asthma. I've had it before and it is the standard of care. After one initial message from an NP, I was put in limbo for 6 and a half hours. No one messaged me or communicated me the entire time despite numerous attempts from my end. This is a horrible service, a.waste of time, and I would not recommend it to anyone for any reason. Avoid this company.

Hi Michael,
I'm sorry you didn't get the care you needed — that's not the experience we want for you. Our clinician has already opened your case and is looking into what happened. We'll follow up directly once we know more, and if there's anything else you'd like us to know in the meantime, just let us know.
