Refused to disclose sourcing - initially
We enjoyed Gardencup's salads for several months. However, I emailed them this week to ask where they source their ingredients due to concerns for the Cryptosporidiosis outbreak. They dodged the question for a few emails, then finally said they were unable to disclose their food sourcing. What? That is shady at best. I have one box coming this week already, and then I am canceling. Very poor practice to not be transparent about where ingredients are sourced. Edited to add - their corporate response to this review is the same response they kept pushing in the emails. If they know that their suppliers are abiding by standards and guidelines in the food industry, why can't they share their sourcing? Is it because consumers might not like the answer? We can only guess as they will not disclose. Too bad. We really did enjoy their salads, so if people aren't worried about where their food comes from, by all means, give them a try. We typically had good service up to this point. Last edit - after we asked for labels to "cupcycle" our numerous empty cups, I finally got an email with the sourcing info. I appreciate the transparency, though I am a wee bit salty that it wasn't so easily provided. We are sticking with Gardencup for a while going forward because we like their salads and I do appreciate the convenience and ultimate forthcoming-ness. Changed stars from 2 to 4.

Hi Lisa, Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand why food safety and ingredient sourcing are important, and we’d like to provide some additional context. The safety and quality of our food remain our highest priority. We source our ingredients exclusively from approved suppliers that meet applicable federal, state, and local food safety requirements. At this time, neither the FDA, CDC, our suppliers, nor our distribution partners have identified any ingredients, growers, processors, distribution centers, or lot numbers associated with our supply chain as part of the current investigation. We continue to closely monitor updates from regulatory agencies and work with our supplier partners to ensure the highest food safety standards are maintained. We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear you’ve decided to cancel. If you have any additional questions, our team is always happy to help when you reach out to [email protected].
