Because the formulas are made with very concentrated botanical oils and waxes, the key is usually using a very small amount. These balms are designed to be applied as a thin layer that melts into the skin. When too much is used, it can sometimes feel heavy, temporarily clog pores, or sit on the surface instead of absorbing properly. In many cases, adjusting the amount and allowing the skin a little time to adapt helps restore the skin’s balance and hydration.
