A nonprofit and globally local re-gifting and re-use network, each group is moderated by a local volunteer who keeps things flowing along. It's like a cyber curbside, or a family-friendly and scam-free Craigslist for free stuff, keeping good stuff out of landfills to the tune of 32,000 items a day in over 5,000 local groups. Find your local group on Freecycle.org and let the re-use and de-cluttering begin!

I registered years ago but never used it. We tend to put stuff on the Magic Curb outside our house. But some items are just a bit esoteric or too nice. My husband and I have recently used Free Cycle and we are thrilled! We leave items on our front steps in boxes or plastic bags. When I get a contact I also attach a JPEG of our house to make it easier for them. I only wish I had used Free Cycle years ago!

Couldn’t even get in.
Gave up on Freecycle after numerous attempts to log in to my existing account, or to open a new one. The website is not remotely user friendly, although I suppose some people think that’s a virtue. I’m sure somebody would design them a decent one at little if any cost for such a good cause, but no, that’s not their way.

Ignored by the moderator?
We had a lot of success with Freecycle a few years ago and decided to advertise an item this weekend. We waited for the moderator in the Bracknell area to approve the post, watched items with later code numbers come and go on the web site, but still no response from the moderator. Our offered post then disappeared without any communication or suggested reason.
We've deleted out account.

Poor first experience
Poor first experience. Listed three items nearly 4 days ago and still waiting for approval. The help pages say it should take a few hours, but up to 24hrs. Contacted the moderator with no response. It's like a ghost town. Plus the site is something out of the 90s.
Thanks for the reply, this is for the Stoke-on-Trent group.
Response from FreecycleAug 7, 2020
Hey Martin, Which group is this? City, Country. We'll have a look. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer and we encourage volunteers to leave posting open so that there is no lag, but some local groups get more spam so mods do mod the posts. It should be a matter of hours or less, certainly not days. This means we need to follow up and see what happened. And, yes, re the site design: pretty antiquated to be sure. We are a charity so our site overhauls aren't as often as for-profit sites. HOWEVER, look for an awesome new site before year end! :-) Best regards, Deron Beal, Executive Director, The Freecycle Network.
PS: THanks for the additional info: we have a volunteer Group Outreach team that will check in on the local volunteer moderator to see if they are MIA...

Timewaster Central here
Timewaster Central here. Love the concept but really fed up after a weekend of no-shows, making arrangements. Very tempted to landfill now. Agree Freegle should have some sort of reporting/rating system as it is very off-putting.

Site/APP is really slow at times
Site/APP is really slow at times. But overall it serves its purpose. Got some nice bits off here and met some really nice people on picking stuff up 😊

Sick of no follow through of offers
I post offers and I've had some good experiences..people respond and follow through with picking item up. Too many times, though, I get email responses..saying they are really interested, and leave me their cell/phone # for me to call. I call them, don't answer, so I leave a vms with my phone #. I also email them with the info. Then....I never hear from them!...or I go back and forth with communication with interested party...then they back out or don't respond. It's a total waste of time, and very rude. If people aren't that serious, please don't waste the time of the person offering the item. Don't respond. Thanks for the venting.
