FreecycleA nonprofit and globally local re-gifting and re-use network, each group is moderated by a local volunteer who keeps things flowing along. It's like a cyber curbside, or a family-friendly and scam-free Craigslist for free stuff, keeping good stuff out of landfills to the tune of 32,000 items a day in over 5,000 local groups. Find your local group on Freecycle.org and let the re-use and de-cluttering begin!

Login experience defies belief. All steps show 'success' but then I'm returned to login again saying invalid username, email address or password, all of which within guidelines and showed 'success'. So useless, it's not worth the wasted time attempting to offer things to people for nothing!

Review: bad and persistent time wasters, staff controlling post and telling you to not post again for five days. I never give junk, always fairly expensive items I'm replacing with their original boxes, the original instructions booklets and in most times almost perfect condition. They have the cheek to demand I hold off give days from reposting when they deny for no reason. The post this time was the lowest value I've posted. Mixed foods for wild animals I bought from a proper online store. Over 30£ worth of foods for birds squirrels and more. In containers that were over a tenner for those.. I reposted because it was two days later and mostly broken junk in between the top spot (latest post) and mine. So I reposted to bring it to the top again. So basically banned for five days. Freecycle has become more about flipping and tipping than about helping people out. I hate wasting decent items but honestly bother to the site.

Thanks for the input, Rachael-Louise. Freecycle.org has over 5,000 local gifting groups, each moderated by a local volunteer. Sometimes they get things wrong like it would appear to be the case in this instance. We don't allow local mods to limit how often folks gift items. That would be a silly rule. We *do* allow mods to limit how often folks post WANTED adverts. As you can imagine greedy folks could post endless WANTED ads and overwhelm everyone's inboxes. If you'd like to share which local group, including town name, region and country, we have a team that works with local volunteers to learn best practices and to help them improve. Just let me know. Sincerely, Deron Beal, The Freecycle Network

Been writing to them for years about the fact that won't let me log in and all they do is keep telling me to follow a link that requires me to log in ! I'm at the end of my life and need to get rid of things and these people are just making it more difficult.

Freecycle.org is free and open to all as a charitable nonprofit site for gifting used items locally rather than tossing them. There is no registration, and one need only sign up one time to use Freecycle.org with an email, a user ID and set a password: that's it. No credit cards or billing address etc as everything is gifted for free. Perhaps you are trying a similar *for profit* website? Otherwise try clearing your cookies as the site is working fine. If you still are having issues, click on the green "?" in the bottom righthand corner of the website and our volunteer help team will be there for you. Sincerely, Deron Beal, The Freecycle Network

STAY AWAY!!! Involved with email fraud/scam. Will get 20-30 emails a day for a password reset and fake links. SERIOUSLY, STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE!!!

These emails are not from Freecycle.org and have nothing to do with our charitable org or website. They are spoofing "email reset" emails from us. Joining or not joining Freecycle.org has no impact on whether you receive this scam email.

I quit being a Freecycle member after they without notice or explanation deleted two of my posts for free firewood. Lots of people locally including me need and use significant amounts of firewood in the colder months.

Sorry to hear that. Local groups sometimes limit how often one may repeat Wanted posts so that the group isn't overwhelmed. Feel free to let us know the local group and we are glad to look into it. Each group is run by a local volunteer moderator and local groups are free and open to all. Thx, Deron/Freecycle
