In addition, I was waiting to see if you were going to address the single most important issue for us, in dealing with First Class; i.e. the invoicing for the cost of the move.
I still believe we were grossly overcharged. There were the statements from those who packed our belongings and the fact that two trucks were sent on the day of the move. (indicating that there should have been far more to pack/ship than there really was) In addition, First Class did not have to move any large appliances, like refrigerators, stoves, washing machines. Our heaviest items were Connie's motorized wheelchair and her power lift chair; those items we moved ourselves.
The agent who wrote our contract said he had twenty-five years of experience, so we would assume he was too capable to make a mistake like overestimating our household goods by at least 3,000#, We were never informed about the "Price Lock" guarantee, nor the fact that if our shipment was well below the estimate, we wouldn't be issued a rebate.
As far as I can tell, moving companies work within a bit of a "closed system", what Third Party confirms the weight of any truck's contents? Do customers understand that First Class will keep the difference between the estimate and the actual weight? At no point was there ever a detailed breakdown of charges to be able to do an apples to apples comparison with other providers.
The other costs, like additional days spent in a hotel and broken furniture, pale by comparison to the excessive cost of the move. Please do what you can to see that our concern is addressed.

Horrible company
Horrible company. Overcharged us and broke contract, very unprofessional movers that were smoking cigarettes and swearing in front of my small children and also stole my husbands belongings. Had to file a claim and pursue legal action. AVOID this company at all costs. Go local.

We’re sorry to hear about your concerns and appreciate the opportunity to clarify.
Your move was coordinated by New Start Relocation, a licensed moving broker, and performed by First Class Movers, the authorized carrier assigned to complete the service. This distinction is explained in the estimate and contract provided by New Start before the move.
The missing items were first reported to our office on November 1st, and a claim form was immediately provided at that time. Our search procedure was initiated right away, and while the items have not yet been located, the investigation remains open. If any new information becomes available, we’ll notify you right away.
As of now, our records indicate that a claim form has not been filed, which is the first step required to formally begin the claims process and determine any potential compensation. We strongly encourage you to submit your claim as soon as possible so this matter can be reviewed and resolved through the proper channels in accordance with federal moving regulations.
We understand how stressful moving can be and take all reports of missing or damaged items seriously. If you need assisting completing your claim form, please feel free to contact CSI claim support at the phone number or web address included in the instructions provided.

***Do not use this company***
***Do not use this company***
Started out with initial quote with "Doug" claiming to be a manager and trying to sell BS. Saying he was a Navy Seal and pompously telling me his bs stories in order to impress me. Dude was completely full of himself and very egotistical. Real service men don't talk about themselves the way he did and I should have listened to the red flag. He barely let me talk or ask questions and went on repeating hes a bonafide agent and no one beats their prices, repeating they are not brokers. However, they act as brokers. Doug was very rude, vulgar, and unprofessional.
Then on pick up day, they don't tell you about the bulk item fee of $600. They don't tell you this prior even though my bulk items were listed and itemized. In addition, they charge you a $750 packing fee if "everything" is not in a box and I mean everything. You can tell these fees are for the movers and not the company. Once packed and taken to a warehouse in a box truck, my property was stored in a temporary location until delivery (I had airtag locators in my boxes). Then reloaded on an 18 wheeler truck for transport. I moved from California to Texas. Once picked up by an 18 wheeler truck, it was delivered to my location. The delivery movers try to obtain more money by saying they couldn't park the 18 wheeler on the street and needed to be repacked in a box truck for an additional $1500. After agreement, they abided and charged me an additional $75 for an extra walk to my front door from the end of my driveway. The moving teams are kind and respectful but seriously attempt to extort you out of your money because you have no choice to receive your property and already paid 60% at pick-up up and 40% at drop off. It should be criminal. In addition, when arriving, my property boxes were destroyed. Here's a list:
Broken newer TV, antique desk, a full box of dishware, damaged/dented brand new refrigerator, decor damaged, horrible communication, couldn't get a hold of anyone at their phone number provided, can't get a hold of Claims after leaving numerous messages and emails, without a single response.
I cannot express to NOT USE THIS COMPANY by any means. I ended up with paying $1400 on top of the initial "binding not-to-exceed" agreement. Plus over $2000 in damaged property. The "small print" has so many loop holes and is all BS to the fullest. I'm sure the company won't care as they got my money.

In addressing your response, I still stand on my complaint, because you still did not address my destroyed property or respond about not being able to contact anyone. The corporate blanketed response is expected and scandalous. There is no customer satisfaction as many reviews on other platforms support this and integrity is clearly not a priority in my direct experience. Thank you Doug for your service.
Response from First class moversOct 7, 2025
First and foremost, the personal attack on Doug is unfounded and inappropriate. Doug is a respected member of our team and a U.S. Navy veteran who served with distinction. Dismissing or questioning someone’s military service because they shared their experience is both unfair and inappropriate. Suggesting that his service is “BS” simply because you're not satisfied says more about your attitude than Doug’s professionalism. His background is a source of pride, not a sales tactic, and his professionalism is consistently recognized by satisfied customers.
Regarding the charges- every single fee was both covered in the agreement signed at booking and disclosed and agreed to in writing before the move began. Packing materials were itemized on the paperwork and billed for the specific supplies used onsite, including six wardrobe boxes, two small and two large crates, two TV boxes, three mattress covers, and approximately 30 feet of shrink wrap.
As outlined in the contract, bulk fees vary depending on the item and must be assessed in person to physically inspect what’s being shipped. Shuttle and long-carry fees are standard additional services across the moving industry and only applied when site conditions require them, as explained in the “Services Not Included” section of the contract.
This was a Binding Not-to-Exceed Estimate, meaning the rate per cubic foot could not increase unless the customer added items or required additional services. Every adjustment made was consistent with that agreement and federal law.
Finally, the claim of “extortion” is not only inaccurate but highly inappropriate. Payment schedules, potential additional charges, and the process for filing damage claims are all clearly laid out in writing. Our team followed the contract precisely.
It’s clear from your comments that you did not fully read or understand your contract before posting this review. Every issue raised here is addressed in plain language within that document.
We understand that moving can be stressful, but frustration is not the same as wrongdoing. Our company followed procedure, adhered to all regulations, and performed the job exactly as agreed.
At First Class Movers, we stand firmly behind our team, our documentation, and our integrity. We encourage anyone considering our services to review their estimate carefully and ask questions up front, something this reviewer unfortunately did not do.

Disappointed, stressed and angry.
My husband and I are moving from Prescott Arizona to Crossville Tennessee. Contacted the company first class movers and they quoted us a quote for our belongings. When the company came out to load their truck, they adjusted this according to the items that we had which is understandable But one of the employees within 10 minutes stole a safe that had $30,000 in it as well as titles to our cars, Social Security numbers, etc. we filed a police report in the police are still looking into this in the interim the company that loaded all of our possessions left Without getting approximately a 10th of our load my husband had to hire a U-Haul and pack these items himself. He is a senior citizen and has a lot of problems with his joints. Needless to say he is now hurting. The additional cost for the items left behind that my husband was unable to load himself are worth probably $2500. We are currently in Crossville waiting for our truck. We have contacted the company several times to be told that it is on its way, but we have yet to see Anything. We continue to contact the company as they do not contact us to no avail. I am disabled in some of the things that are on this truck. I need in my everyday life. I did not expect it to be anywhere near as long as it has been, over two weeks and counting. I am truly shocked by the actions and reactions of this company. It is very unprofessional let alone unethical. The communication is appalling. We need help and are at a loss as to what to do from this point I guess a lawyer is in our future. Susan Lollar

We’re truly sorry to hear about the challenges you faced during your move and understand how stressful this has been.
To clarify, your move was arranged through a licensed broker, and delivery was completed shortly after this review was posted—within the timeframe included in your signed agreement. At pickup, there were more items than originally listed, so a revised estimate was prepared, reviewed with you, and signed before loading. About 600 additional cubic feet were moved at that time, and no charges were applied to items not listed on the approved estimate. The only reason something would not have been loaded is if the additional cost wasn’t approved.
With regard to the theft allegation, we were just as shocked as you. The employee involved was new but had passed all background and drug screenings. We immediately cooperated fully with law enforcement and will continue to do so.
We regret the difficulty caused at pickup and the impact it had on you and your husband, and we know communication during stressful times is critical. We are taking steps to improve responsiveness so customers feel supported throughout the moving process.
Again, we sincerely apologize for the stress this caused and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.

Move from Hell - Part 2
Now that everything has been unpacked and unwrapped, we've discovered some damage. During a previous review, I was assured that they would send a link to my email so I could complete a claim form, but I never received it. For the past two days, I've been attempting to call their 888-482-6659 number (listed on the Bill of Lading Contract), but all I hear is a continuous 'no route found' recording. I also emailed them at the email address listed on the Bill of Lading Contract two days ago and have yet to receive a response. Attempts to reach their offices in Texas, Sacramento, and Seattle only led me to voicemail or were told the number is unavailable. How can I file a claim if I can't access their form? This reflects poorly on their management.

The move from Hell
They were late picking us up by 2 hours. The original price was around $3744, they wanted another $4,230 to load it and when they did finally deliver it another $2,815 was due. Neither of which I was told about in advance. Legs on several tables and antique devices were broken and repaired before it even got to the delivery point. One chair was lost never seen. Leather couches had scratches on them. The one contract helper they hired was paid $50 and moved over 80% of the load. He told me that he was told it was a small load. Our furniture was in a warehouse for nearly 3 weeks. The broker indicated that it was 1 to 8 days for less than 500 miles, it was closer to 19 days for 300 miles. I've made many moves in my life having been in the military for 20 years, this was by far the worst move I have ever experienced including a move overseas.

We appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to respond to your concerns.
First, we would like to correct some inaccurate information stated in your review. The original estimate, which you signed and agreed to prior to pickup, was $8,565.47. The amount of $3,741.52 was a deposit, not the total price for your move. The two additional payments you referenced were not unexpected charges — they were standard portions of the remaining balance due at pickup and delivery, as outlined in the agreement and again confirmed at pickup with your signature.
Regarding your delivery timeline, pickup occurred on June 6, and your first available delivery day was June 8. Delivery was completed on June 18, which is the 8th business day — well within the estimated timeframe provided. The entire move was completed in 12 calendar days, not 19. Our estimates are always calculated in business days starting from the first available day.
While we do our best to arrive on time, we acknowledge that the crew arrived approximately two hours later than the estimated window, and we apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused. However, as is also stated in the agreement, pickup and delivery times are not guaranteed due to the nature of long-distance logistics.
In terms of item condition, basic valuation coverage for lost or damaged items is included with every move, and clients may file a claim at any time up to 9 months from the date of delivery. As of the time of this response, we have not received any damage report from you. We encourage you to do so if any items were lost or damaged during the move so that we can investigate and process the matter appropriately. A link with instructions to file a claim has been sent to you via email.
We also want to clarify that your shipment was not sitting in a warehouse for three weeks. After pickup, it was queued for delivery and dispatched on the first available truck scheduled to deliver on or after your available date. This process — which prioritizes careful planning and routing for long-distance moves — was included in the timeframe provided.
We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. However, the services rendered, timeline, and payment structure were consistent with the agreement you reviewed and signed. We are always happy to help resolve concerns when they are brought to us directly and encourage any further communication through our claims or customer service channels.
To anyone reading this who is planning a long distance move- Please do your research and read your agreement before entering into a contract. Understanding how the long distance transportation of household goods works and what you're agreeing to is critical and will make the process much smoother for all involved. The FMCSA consumer handbook and "Ready to Move" brochure are excellent resources. Both are linked in our estimate and can be found on the FMCSA website.

Brokered, careless movers
On pickup,Pro wrappers did great.loaded everything in a 26' trk waist high. Everything must have been transferred to a warehouse then a 53 ft big rig trailer. On arrival somebody else's belongings were put in our yard and it did not look good. Walked on mutilated cardboard, broken tape, exposed belongings. Good thing it wasn't raining. My barbecue was missing three pieces and bent out of shape. Scratch with many deep gouges. it was stacked on top of everything. Unloader was using boxes to step on to get to the top which left crushed boxes. The kitchen dining table took two giant gouges, thrown so hard it dislocated screws, lost. push lawn mower took gouges and dislocated a screw, lost. required mattress cover was completely removed but the box spring was 100% intact, had holes in cover like boxes were thrown at it along with shoe prints on the fabric. Unloaders were pleasant, did not ding up the walls of the new house or drop any boxes.
