I easily grasped the points my Loan Officer was making during our conversations because his explanations were clearly stated and understandable. I felt completely comfortable being open about my financial circumstances and my objectives for refinancing an existing reverse mortgage. Instructions were given to me at a pace that assured me I understood the loan process and what my next steps were to be. My questions were welcomed and answered to my satisfaction. Finance of America Reverse (F.A.R.) exercises proper care and due diligence when underwriting their Home Equity Conversion Mortgage ( H.E.C.M. ) product. Their service is reasonable and an excellent financial management tool for older individuals to utilize home equity for taking care of their home in later years. If you are looking to stay in your home and are an independent older person, I recommend you take a closer look. Funds may also be used for other purposes, such as paying off high interest credit cards.

Overall outstanding service, once I was assigned an experienced agent. While the first agent was new, a supervisor helped assign a very experienced and personable agent to walk us through the entire process. And it is lengthy, as all reverse mortgages are. She was outstanding at communicating at all hours and days of the week. She was thoroughly knowledgeable of not only the processes, but also of what the other departments needed to get to approval. This includes the underwriting dept which is highly regulated and punctilious. She was also personable and encouraged us when there were obstacles and setbacks, such as the time we tried sending documents via photos versus faxes (we don’t have a fax) and the complexities of working through the documentation. Finally, our agent was able to get us incredible terms so that we minimized closing costs. In all, we were highly satisfied and would recommend FAR to anyone interested in a reverse mortgage.
