Inhospitality Management
I walked into extended stay Timonium, MD. Nobody was at the desk or anywhere to be seen. After calling out 4 times “Excuse Me”, a young man about 20-22 appeared behind the desk. I asked if he had a public restroom he just said “we don’t” then returned to the back room. The place is really dirty and run down and it really isn’t that old - I think it was built around 2000 or late 90’s at the oldest. I’m assuming he was lying to me because I’ve been in about 500 hotels and motels in my life and they all have public restrooms. Apart from restaurants if I had to pick a 2nd business type that would have them I would say hotels since they are supposed to be hospitable right? Paint peeling off doors, outside very plain, no concourse, and carpet should have been replaced 10 years ago - you would think you were in an old bowling alley, etc. Maybe it’s for the better they don’t have them if they really don’t. Rooms must be really cheap there compared to the Hampton Inn and Suites (which you could eat off the floor) around the corner and Holiday Inn across the street otherwise I don’t know what would keep them in business as the rooms likely don’t impress.
