I stayed in a hotel of theirs in Austin and it's clear they don't wash the sheets and only make the bed if it looks clean. Just a little while after staying there, I now have ringworm on my back and torso.

Stayed at the Schaumburg Convention center hotel in Chicagoland area for a week. I was so afraid to leave my room. There were drug addicts following me around constantly asking for money, cigarettes, lighters, food and rides. I washed my clothes once and was followed to laundry. They were walking the halls in pajamas, no socks or shoes. It was a total nightmare. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Staff acted like it was a normal way there. It was a transient hotel. Their advertisement is bait and switch. Bad news!

We recently stayed at Extended Stay Newport Beach. The first thing you see is a 55 gallon drum as a trash can. There's no luggage cart because the customers don't bring them back. There is a man at the front desk wearing a black hoodie with a fishing baseball cap. No uniform. No name badge. Didn't know who he was and thought he was part of the cleaning staff. Found out later that his name was Robert. We booked a suite for 3 days. The kitchenette was not equipped with any dishes, cups, flatwear, etc. Nothing. We noticed a placard letting us know to customize your kitchen and to please contact the front desk to make your selections and a dish package will be delivered to your room. Called the front desk only to find out that they had run out of everything and nothing was available. Tina had just come on shift and said that she'll put stuff together for us. After what seemed like an hour waiting I called the front desk and Robert answered. Told him that Tina put something together for us for the kitchen. He said it's here and that I'd have to come and get it. The dishes and flatware cups and bowls were wet so apparently Tina had to wash them. The kitchen faucet was so old and sprayed from the sides. The refrigerator had rust spots all over the outside of the freezer door. The bathroom did not have the little bottles of shampoo or conditioner. I called the front desk and was told that they do not put those in the rooms. Shampoo was available and that we'd have to come and get it. The hair dryer in the bathroom wall was about to fall off. The bathroom fan was LOUD. The entire floor area was filthy. Not dusted or mopped The headboard was dirty. The bed had sheets and a sheet like bed cover, no blanket. Usually a hotel leaves a blanket in the closet. Not. Called the front desk again for a blanket. This time Jonathan answered and he was nice and respectful but also said there's one at the desk that you can come get..sigh. At least Jonathan was wearing a uniform and a name badge. Oh and on the first floor there seems to be some very smelly people because the hallway smelled like armpits. So moral to this review, don't stay here or stay here only if you don't mind a filthy hotel and love cleaning and don't care for customer service.

Had a reservation for a Sat. Showed up about 5:30pm and I was told that since I only had a one night reservation I would not be able to check in. I asked about any charges and was assured that I would not be charged. Two days later I have been charged and am being told that I was a no show and they only will put in a case to see IF I Might get a refund in a week. This is completely absurd and will never use this company again. Worst Service Ever

If I could give it a less than 1 star I would. The general manager Stuart at the Denver tech center location apparently does not train his employees how to check identification before handing out door card keys. I went up to front over my key not working and a guy walks up ask and received someones key hopefully it was his room.

We stayed at the Durham, NC, location for our daughter's graduation at Duke. The hotel and staff were so horrible that I wouldn't allow homeless people to stay there. There was black mold in the bath, an almost useless kitchen, dirty, disgusting carpeting, no promised breakfast, a smoke alarm missing the smell of cigarettes, and someone tried to break into our room in the early morning. Disgusting! The good news, management did give us a complete refund.

Beware of unusual PII data collection with Extended Stays American Hotel Review of Extended Stay America - Lexington Park - Pax River BEWARE of booking and paying for stays at Extended Stays America hotel chain for future reference. Their manager at the Lexington Park location stated that the company policy required hotel guest to present valid ID not only for the registered guest but for all your family members in your party above 18 years old regardless if they don’t carry one or not. They are required to scan a valid ID, either a drivers license or passport and keep electronics copies of all your group’s ID. When I refused to provide my other family member’s ID for them to scan, I was denied the stay for the night on my fully paid reservation for a room. I had to notify my booking service to request a refund and drive away to another town to get a night stay. This policy was not explicitly stated in their website or booking policy. I contacted the manager , the customer care hot line and they refused to address this issue at a higher level except stating that they would offer a full refund at the request of my booking agency. They can not or will not notify this complaint to corporate for this unreasonable policy that I have never encountered at any other hotel chain before. I also think this situation should be considered an invasion of privacy for a company to gather unnecessary PII information that can lead to future identity theft opportunities.
