Insurance benefit check said I would be responsible for a copay, 5 visits later turns out my insurance would not accept the diagnosis code the provider billed for. I was not notified of this and now have to pay out of pocket for all my visits. Definitely misleading!. All the customer service reps had to say was it was an insurance issue and nothing they could do.

We had a disappointing experience with…
We had a disappointing experience with Expressable, particularly regarding communication and billing transparency.
At the beginning, we were told that the services were covered by our insurance. However, we later discovered that even after insurance coverage, we were being charged $60.53 per session. We were not clearly informed in advance that our out-of-pocket responsibility would be this high. Had we known the actual cost beforehand, we would have made a different decision about continuing services.
For a healthcare service, families should be given a clear estimate of what they will actually owe after insurance before ongoing treatment begins. In our experience, this was not communicated well, and the repeated charges came as a surprise.
Unfortunately, we also did not see meaningful benefit from the therapy during the time we worked with Expressable. Given the limited benefit, poor communication, and unexpectedly high out-of-pocket cost, we were very dissatisfied with our experience and would not recommend the service based on what we encountered.

Keep Seaeching
The therapist spent less than thirty minutes with my child. She could not get her to engage. After spending less than thirty minutes, the therapist start to ask if I thought she was autistic. Big rad flag for a child with a speech delay and without any real observation. Next, I was told the evaluation would be seventy dollars. Which I paid, and suddenly I get a deduction from my account for a $143. In addition to the seventy three dollars without notice. And they ran my insurance prior to the appointment. So had it been additional, it would have been great to get some sort of notice. I agree with the comment on the shady billing practices.

Horrible Service
So many issues - but in summary working with this company for over 2 years for service - The Speech therapist was great, however the company acts just like an overseas holdings co. would, you are just a $ to them, with no care of the interruption to service does to someone making progress. Not opposed to the $ they need to be compensated, however this industry comes with common care responsibilities when dealing with people and their lives. Services were abruptly stopped with no notice, or plan to continue the services seemlessly, they put us on a waiting list with no plan forward. They also screwed up billing, as ours was completely covered and they would cancel appointments last minute due to billing issue despite speaking to someone multiple times and they agreed that everything was fine and that the account was marked that it was an error on their side. Extreme dysfunction.

Great therapists, terrible app
I have no complaints about the therapists on this app — they're great. My frustration is entirely with the platform itself and the developers who can't be bothered to fix basic, obvious problems.
Take rescheduling. If you want to move an appointment to a different time on the same day, you can't. The app only lets you reschedule to a different day. To change the hour, you have to submit a support ticket and have your therapist do it manually. There's no reason for this.
Or say you cancel a week of sessions because you're on vacation. The app immediately panics and starts flooding your inbox with emails begging you to reschedule. There's no way to filter these out, and no setting to receive only personal messages from your therapist. The platform ignores basic email consent practices that virtually every other publisher follows. Honestly, I hope Gmail and other providers eventually flag their domain as spam.

The therapist was great, shady billing
The therapist was great, but I'm now fighting with their billing department. They switched me to self pay without my consent, and submitted a bunch of claims to insurance that they should have gotten prior authorization for.

Started His Own Narrated YouTube Channel!
My 15 y. son got speech therapy for a mild to moderate stutter associated with anxiety. He'd started stuttering around age 8. Before Expressable, he was afraid to speak up in groups or in class or in his games with friends, even though he was highly intelligent, good looking, well liked and funny with a great vocabulary. He felt stifled and socially doomed.
At age 15 he saw an online speech therapist from Expressable for about 6 mo. Within the following 6 months on his own, his stutter rapidly resolved and now at age 16, he felt confident enough to start his own YouTube channel where he narrates and entertains, with his own voice. He's getting fabulous reviews of his content creation!!
Speech therapy made all the difference. I think therapy of any kind is only as good as the provider; it has less to do with the company that hires them. So if you get a therapist that's not a good fit, switch! My son had an excellent experience with Expressable; it helped him access his own talents and abilities, overcome the anxiety, accept himself fully and have the freedom to know he can improve!
Seeing the other reviews, I will add that I did not have any problems with billing. We paid out of pocket as my insurance didn't cover speech theapy. It wasn't cheap but wasn't outrageous for the industry. I am a health care professional so the prices seemed fair enough. When we were done I was able to cancel further services without issue.

Recommended by someone I trust; but so far, not a good experience.
This site was recommended by a health care provider that I trust, so I decided to give it a try.
Going through the intake process was frustrating, as I kept getting error messages when filling out the form. It finally accepted my credit card information, but wouldn’t allow me to submit my intake form, even though it was complete.
I emailed their support team, but received no response acknowledging that I’d created a ticket.
Now suspicious, I looked for a way to remove my credit card information. No dice.
One more email to support late this evening, so I suppose I’ll have to wait until Monday to hear back.
They have some explaining to do; it had better be good.
