I switched to Erie from State Farm after a frustrating glad claim. I will be ver use Safelite again. Turned them away this time but that is not why I am here
First thing I noticed after switching the policy was just a mess of papers with no clear description of coverage
I got a reasonable rate but try communicating with them. The app is useless. All I wanted was to add add a cargo trailer to my plan. Not confident at all with Erie. Guess I am on the hunt again.
I will possibly go back with State Farm. Things were much easier. I just learned a lesson that it easier and cheaper to get OE glass replacements without insurance claims
State Farm was going to let me make a $500 deductible claim for a $240 aftermarket windshield
I got the OE windshield for $465 without filing a claim

They shell out to policy fraudsters no questions asked just a police report. Big payouts

I was hunting for affordable insurance…
I was hunting for affordable insurance and contacted at least four different companies including Erie. Erie gave me a quote of over $7,000 which way above any of the previous quotes that I had been quoted by four different companies. When I questioned them about how do they arrive at such a ridiculously high quote they hung up on me. That is one of the worst customer service I have ever received. The young lady on the phone was not very professional and was not very helpful. I would never deal with this company if that's the way they conduct business.

Only good stuff to say about our ERIE agents and dealings here.
I know that the people we deal with in a company, when we call customer service, etc., can make or break a company. Some insurance agents may be dismissive when clients need help, or be over zealous (in favor of the company, to the detriment of their clients,) and may have a reason to treat customers in a less that courteous and pleasant way. Then come the adjusters, and everyone else involved in the process when one must file a claim, often, another headache.
I have dealt with several insurance companies over the years and for several years now, ERIE has been the one company we have stuck with, and we won't be movie to another one again!
We live in Elkins, WV, and our agents here (Rodger Ware and Jessica McCourt) since day one have been incredibly helpful and patient! If some people go out of their way and walk the extra mile with you, I'd say without reservation that our agents literally have been running the marathon with us, and not getting tired! I am the kind of person that likes to know how things work, why this or that is done, what's the logic behind a decision, the mechanics of it, why certain things are not possible, etc., and both Rodger and Jessica are insanely patient (I am the insane guy with never ending questions!,) and have always answered and clarified every question I have had. The same thing with the adjusters we have had looking into our claims; they have always been pleasant, thorough, fair people in their evaluations as far as I can tell.
I am surprised that ERIE has so many negative reviews here on TrustPilot, but since I believe credit must be given when credit is due, I decided it was time to do just that.
I cannot know about ERIE elsewhere, but if you are around this area/WV, and you need insurance (we have auto and home with them,) I'd encourage you to give them a call, and check them out. As said, we tried other insurance companies, and NO ONE beats them, period!

The absolute worst insurance company to…
The absolute worst insurance company to deal with. They are the reason that insurance companies get a bad name. One of their insurers hit me and they denied the claim and now they will not even return phones calls or respond appropriately to emails. How do you deny a claim when I was the one sitting at a stop light and some idiot rear-ends me and it's all documented appropriately? Disgusting.

If they had a 0 id give it
If they had a 0 id give it. They are trash. Im on a erie workmans comp right now and they refused to pay for a cat scan or mri because I complained about it 2 days after getting out the hospital from ankle surgery. I really hope this company gets what they deserve..... bankruptcy

I have Erie auto insurance
I have Erie auto insurance. My car over heated in the way home from work. I was 36 miles from home. I called Erie to arrange a tow. They supposedly cover 24 miles. They tried to charge me $360 because the trip was 12 miles over. I called a tow company near where the car was stranded. I had never used them before. They charged me $280 for the entire trip. I plan to change insurance companies on Monday.

Been with Erie Insurance for ten years…
Been with Erie Insurance for ten years with never making a claim. Last year 2 acts of God occurred - Hail storm in our subdivision and everyone home needed a new roof. Two months later a strong storm occurred w/ lightning - Had a power surge at the home. Erie sent out a lightning tech and tested 40 items/ it took 4+ hours - outlets, lights, microwave, televisions, electric scooter that was plugged in, radon fan, etc that had fried in the surge. Erie replaced the roof and the 40 items - 2 claims. The total amount from the two claims was 36K & 6K. Just received the non-renewal letter from Erie. It is not like we are crashing cars and filing bogus claims. I was told that I would have an issue finding new insurance. I called 3 companies and all 3 were chomping at the bit to give us insurance and not at a higher rate. The moral of this story is Erie Insurance wants your money but does NOT want to help you out when something BAD happens. Stay away from Erie Insurance!
