The Chicago depot were horrible humans
The Chicago depot were horrible humans. Rude and condescending. The building was full of annoyed people all living in the twilight zone.
We had to transport my mil because she was too ill to fly. The AC didn’t work and we had to drive through the desert in July. Not a single word of empathy. Just gross people. Sorry El Monte but your kindness doesn’t make up for your business partner/ contractor.

We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience at our branch and the behavior of our staff. This is not the level of service we strive to provide, and we understand how upsetting it can be to feel disrespected or dismissed.
We take all feedback seriously, especially when it involves the professionalism and courtesy of our team. Your comments have been escalated to the appropriate management team for review, and we’ll be addressing this internally to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

Terrible experience, lies and problems
Terrible experience. The motorhome's heaters and refrigerator didn't work. I lost all the food in the refrigerator twice. We suffered losses of over $1800 in food and had to stay in a campground because the gas heater didn't work. We were stuck with the motorhome for over 30 days. They sent us to places to fix it, and even there, nothing worked again. It was chaos. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, and I don't even have one. And we paid for VIP insurance, but in the end, we had to pay the same deductible for an attempted break-in through the door. The agent said it would be $200 to $300, but in 10 minutes, they increased it to $720. Lies and problems.
We requested the extension days due to the problems that have occurred since the beginning of the rental. The email is proof of this, where they agreed, and now, in bad faith, on January 11th, they reversed everything, pretending not to understand.
We requested the extension days due to problems that have occurred since the beginning of the rental. The email proves they agreed, and now, in bad faith, on January 11th, they reversed everything, pretending not to understand: 1. Gas heater
2. Electric heater
3. Refrigerator
4. Clean water hose
5. Dirty hose
6. Exhaust fan
7. Water heater: explosions, danger, fear 8. Awning that doesn't work
Numerous emails, more than 50
Numerous calls, more than 50
Incorrect information, the first time we took a 148km detour for maintenance and upon arrival they said DO NOT WORK WITH RVs, ONLY TRAILERS
On the second trip for maintenance we took another 126km detour on a horrible and time-consuming road, we waited for 4 hours, and they came to deliver The car, with a blatant, lying excuse that they had fixed the heater and refrigerator, we called the manager who came to the car, said he tested it beforehand, fiddled with a switch and the heater worked. We stayed inside the parking lot for 10 minutes and it stopped working again. Frustrated and nervous, we left the same way we came in.
The vehicle sounds like a cart, everything rattles, a real racket.
The sound from the radio equipment is awful, it sounds like a joke, a buzzing of bees.
We were going to do the trip 50% camping and 50% in remote locations, which would save us a lot, an average of 80 dollars a day, but we were forced to stay in campsites because the gas heater DOES NOT WORK.
In this part alone, we had approximately $1,040 in extra expenses.
We lost: 2 gallons of milk (2 liters each), several yogurt containers, 2 packages of sausages, tomatoes, fruits and other vegetables, ham, mozzarella, wine, prepared meals, and other things totaling approximately $530.
We bought 2 electric heaters because the existing heaters weren't working.
We bought a cooler and always have ice to store food; it's absurd to rent a motorhome and go back in time and need a cooler to travel with.
I paid for VIP insurance which is useless because when something happens you have to pay again; the math doesn't add up.
416 + 720
I suffered numerous losses and problems, and was misled by the information WRITTEN BY YOU IN AN EMAIL about the daily allowances that would be given and not charged. Look, I hope and want no one to go through what we went through in 30 days with this motorhome of yours, that no one is deceived. It's regrettable, you spoke on the phone, and it's in the email about the extended daily allowances, which would be a gift, so to speak, do the math: spoiled food, unnecessary camping days, fuel and time we spent and lost looking for mechanics who didn't solve anything, and detours. Another thing, even the attendant said that the repair would cost between 200 and 300 dollars. Then you came up with 720. I am a farmer, we are correct and honest in our activities, and we teach our children about honor and honesty, which is why everything that happened with you greatly shocked them. Goodbye.

We know how important reliability and clear communication are, especially when problems arise, and we regret that your experience did not reflect that.

Absolutely awful place do not rent from…
Absolutely awful place do not rent from here. Their RVs are not well maintained. The steering wheel was also not aligned correctly.
The awning on my rented RV dislodged during rain and wind. These assholes refused to take care of me.

Terrible communication
Terrible communication. No reply to emails or calling back after multiple missed calls because we had issues with the RV. We had gas leakage, mirrors that could not be adjusted, and dead batteries almost every day even after hook up it charging them all day by driving. Never again.

After many many years of renting the…
After many many years of renting the larger units from El Monte RV, this rental was the absolute worst ever. The unit we got was falling apart. We struggled with the decision of traveling to our destination, wondering if we would make it there and back.

Catastrophic rental, avoid at all costs!
Never again. Avoid at all costs. We rented an RV (via Motorhome Republic / El Monte RV, in Aug 2025. The vehicle was advertised as a 2024 model — but a VIN check proves it is a 2022 model. That is false advertising.
The RV was in catastrophic condition: broken and detached armrests, ripped upholstery, torn panels, exterior lockers that don’t lock (we couldn’t secure our belongings), filthy dishes and outdoor furniture, defective outlets, non-working tank indicators, and automatic leveling that practically never worked. The central A/C died after three days; repairs failed and we were forced to pay for three motel nights (USD 628) because it was impossible to sleep in the RV. We found used earplugs and debris on the floor at pick-up.
We filed detailed complaints (with photos and emails) without receiving compensation.
This company’s advertising is misleading and the equipment provided is unacceptable. We strongly advise all travelers to avoid Motorhome Republic / El Monte RV for rentals — do not trust the model year or the photos; inspect, verify the VIN, and demand written proof before driving away.
ANSWER TO YOUR REPLY:
Thank you for your public reply, but it feels entirely generic and disconnected from the real situation. We have already sent three detailed emails (Aug 18, Sep 3 and Sep 23) with full photo evidence, VIN verification proving the RV was a 2022 model instead of the advertised 2024, and proof of the A/C failure after only three days, the filthy condition of the vehicle, and its overall poor state.
To date, no one has ever replied or followed up, neither from your “customer care” address nor from Motorhome Republic. If you truly wish to resolve this matter rather than issue standard apologies, please contact me directly and reference Reservation IM44549012-HXO861187/1.
If your team sincerely intends to fix this situation.

we hired a class A RV for 7 days in 110 degree heat mid west. Generator would not work when outside temp was over 80 degrees which meant we had no AC at all in the RV. Could not sleep or travel in it. El Monte will not help you. They will hang you out to dry and keep all of your money. They will offer a measly 100 bucks compensation. we spent $4000 on airbnb absolute rubbish company

Thank you for sharing your experience, and we’re truly sorry for the discomfort and frustration you endured during your trip.
A malfunctioning generator in extreme heat is unacceptable, especially when it impacts basic comfort like air conditioning. We understand how this affected your ability to travel and rest, and we regret that our support did not meet your expectations.
We’re reviewing this case internally to ensure better service and accountability moving forward. If you'd like to discuss this further, please reach out to us at [email protected].
