Der Rauchmelder ging öfter ohne grund los
Nach einem Regenschauer war die Matratze hinten feucht und darunter war schimmel
Response from El Monte RVSep 18, 2026

Roadtrip with an unreliable RV
Major mechanical problems with the cooling system of the engine of our RV (R-254004)
-Three times the engine halted abruptly due to overheating . All 3 times we had to spend our precious holiday time to get the RV fixed. The 3rd time we were towed back to Denver, which was not a happy experience. The support from OnRoadCare service was insufficient; the phone numbers on the key tag did not work. Driving through very remote areas like deserts with an unreliable RV caused a lot of anxiety and stress.
On top of that, we also encountered the following problems:
-The fridge in the RV did not work. OnRoadCare service gave us a few suggestions to solve it, but those did not work. We bought cooling bags and we had to fill them with ice cubes every day.
-The side-view mirrors of the RV were not properly adjustable. We fixed this ourselves with a borrowed hex key.
-In the RV there was a constant smell of propane, even when the propane tank was switched off.
-We received messages from the dashboard that the oil needed to be changed soon.
-We often received messages from the dashboard that the tyres pressure was too low; it appeared to be a false alarm according to OnRoadCare Service, but it was very annoying.
After dropping off the RV we received little financial compensation.

Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback. We understand how stressful it was to experience repeated mechanical issues and reliability concerns during a trip through remote areas, particularly when you also felt the support from On Road Care did not meet expectations. We’re glad you were ultimately able to return safely, but we recognize how much these issues affected your holiday. Your comments regarding the vehicle condition, roadside support, and compensation have been shared with our team for further review. If you would like to discuss the matter further, please contact our Guest Services team at [email protected].

Highly greedy company
Highly greedy company, I was forced return the RV the very next morning for health reasons, explained everything in a very detailed way, and they refused to refund any money. In a nutshell I kept the RV overnight, probably drove it 10 miles, didn’t use any of the amenities, and was charged $1600.00 what a shame!!!

We rented a camper in August 2026
We rented a camper in August 2026. Once we were on the road, we noticed a leak under the sink that had been plugged with toilet paper. Fortunately, we were able to fix it ourselves, but the fact that they didn't inspect and return the camper in that condition is not appreciated at all. We also had problems right from the start with the direct water supply; if we connected the toilet, it would fill up with water. For these reasons, I consider the rental to be unprofessional.

I was told I could change the location
I was told I could change the location, but that was a lie. They wanted to charge me $5,000 to return it to a different place after I had already left. They told me, even with 6 days' notice, that they couldn't do it. I was scammed. Be careful when hiring them.
Response from El Monte RVAug 24, 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand how frustrating it was to learn that changing your return location was not possible after your trip had already begun. Changes to pickup or return locations are subject to availability and cannot always be accommodated, even with advance notice. We appreciate your feedback.

I recently rented an RV from El Monte…
I recently rented an RV from El Monte RV Salt Lake City and drove to Yellowstone National Park, so I wanted to share my experience for anyone considering a similar trip.
The initial quote was somewhat misleading because it only reflected the base RV rental price. At pickup, there were many additional costs for liability insurance, protection packages, return convenience options, kitchen kits, linen kits, and other add-ons. Once everything was included, the total cost increased significantly from the original quote.
I purchased liability insurance, the VIP Plus package, and the Gold package because I wanted a worry-free rental experience. Unfortunately, that was not the case. During the trip, we had a flat tire. I was told that, based on the damage pattern, it was not considered a manufacturing defect and was instead attributed to my driving, so I was responsible for the tire replacement cost. After paying for multiple higher-level protection packages, I was very disappointed to learn that an issue like this was still not covered.
We also experienced problems with the slide-out. Small items can easily fall into the corner near the slide-out rail, jam the mechanism, and prevent the slide from moving in or out properly. When this happened, it took a significant amount of time and effort to get it working again. Dealing with this in the middle of a road trip added a lot of unnecessary stress.
Overall, the RV experience involved far more unexpected costs, mechanical issues, and hassle than I anticipated. While traveling by RV may appeal to some people, I personally would not recommend it if your goal is a convenient and stress-free vacation. Based on my experience, I would much rather rent a regular car and stay in hotels.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed account of your experience. We understand how the additional costs, warning lights, flat tire, and slide-out issue made the trip more stressful than expected, particularly after selecting multiple protection packages for added peace of mind. Your concerns regarding pricing transparency, vehicle condition, and how the tire issue was handled have been shared with our team for review. Please contact our Guest Services team at [email protected] so the details of your rental can be reviewed directly.
