The bicycle suddenly stops while riding — extremely dangerous
While riding, the bicycle suddenly stopped working. I sent it in for repair and thought the problem had been fixed. However, just five days after receiving it back, it stopped working again while I was riding.
I regularly ride on busy main roads, so having the bicycle suddenly stop is extremely dangerous and could lead to a serious accident.
I believe this bicycle has serious safety issues and is not reliable or safe to ride.
Response from DYUOct 9, 2026
Hi Kei,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Rider safety is our absolute highest priority, and we are deeply concerned to hear that your bike stopped working again just five days after being serviced. We sincerely apologize for the dangerous situation and distress this caused. This is certainly not the level of reliability or support we hold ourselves to. As we cannot locate an order directly under your profile name, could you please email us at [email protected] with your Order Number and reference your previous repair ticket? Our senior support team will prioritize your request to review your repair history immediately and work directly with you on a safe and permanent solution.
Warm regards,

This bike is extremely dangerous and…
This bike is extremely dangerous and has potential deadly manufacturing defects. The seller of the bike has no replacement bikes (C9) to exchange either (not the official DYU store but it is brand certified). First thing I noticed? The box was falling apart. It was so severely damaged it literally fell apart and was completely unusable. It was being held together but the big zip tie like things and not the actual cardboard. The shipping took 2 days as well, so it seems like they willingly shipped the bike out like that. The rear mudguard was a bit bent because of this and I'm sure there was some other issues caused by that extremely damaged box. Second thing I noticed? Bike is half assembled. Things that shouldn't have been assembled were already assembled. Not things like the rear wheel but random accessories and very easy things to assemble. It makes me think that the bike was returned, then sold as new so the company could try and make a profit off the bike. This company made 15 million dollars last year by the way. Third thing I noticed and didn't notice? The motor gets stuck & it rubs pretty loudly. I didn't hear the rubbing because I was blasting music in my helmet and thought I could trust DYU but I guess not. At first the motor got stuck in only PAS 5 then PAS 4 then whenever the chains falls off it'd get stuck in lower PAS like 3/2. I then reproduced the issue and found out that the bike will literally GO FULL THROTTLE with no PAS on if the chain is off and you just start pedaling. Imagine you're trying to go slow maybe because there's a bunch of traffic a head and BAM the bike starts going 20+ mph. That's deadly consequences. The forth thing I noticed which is also extremely horrifying given what you've read about this bike is that both the front and rear brakes would give out randomly. Stuck motor AND both brake lines give out! I almost got seriously hurt multiple times from this. These are deadly manufacturing defects. The bike also arrived with loose disc brakes confirmed by the DYU seller I talked to. The seller also confirmed the bike is suppose to be new and come with the correct amount of screws. I had to use zip ties and a decent amount at that to secure everything. Funny enough the zip ties secured some of the parts better than the screws did as some vibrated off. The rear brakes are also extremely loud. Hennyways the breaking point quite literally was the rim bending so badly the bike is completely unrideable.
AND the seller not only ghosted me but had kept contact with me for about 5 days. The seller asked me what replacement parts I needed, then decided it was their time to ghost me and completely end the convo. Literally put the inquiry as completed with a paper trail that it was NOT... What's even worse is that the DYU warranty team has also completely ghosted me. And trust me I tried to get them to respond. Email them on a Monday. sent multiple emails, sent quite A LOT of proof, not to mention their warranty email service dyucycle email isn't their actual warranty email. The warranty team responded very quickly in less than 12 hours, then ironically their actual warranty team dyudyudyucycle email has not responded. I sent the email on Sept 14th, 15th, and I've forwarded and added more things to the email so they've gotten or should've gotten at least 5 emails? 10+ if we include both emails. It is Sept 21st and no resolution has been made and of course I'm still being ghosted.
As of Sept 22nd the seller wants me to take a $220 dollar refund. Where’s the warranty team at with the replacement parts?? Was the warranty card I was sent completely void? Isn’t that illegal under U.S. federal law? Why can’t DYU send me a replacement C9 bike or the actual replacement parts? Doesn’t that make you wonder why they aren’t replacing anything? Almost sounds like they knowingly gave me a warranty card knowing they wouldn’t have a replacement bike or parts if needed.

I purchased a DYU D3F electric bike…
UPDATE: 29 September 2026
I have updated this review following DYU resolving the matter and processing my refund in full. I have kept the original details below because they accurately reflect my experience during the return process at the time.
I purchased a DYU D3F electric bike directly from DYU’s website. Unfortunately, after receiving and trying the bike, I found it unsuitable for me. The steering was difficult and uncomfortable to control, the seat could not be raised sufficiently for my leg length and caused my legs to cramp while pedalling, and the riding position caused back discomfort. I also found the single-speed gearing unsuitable when pedalling without electric assistance.
The bike was delivered on 27 August 2026, and I contacted DYU on 30 August 2026, only three days later, to request a return and refund.
Initially, I was told that because my reasons were considered “personal reasons” rather than a quality issue, £200 would be deducted from my refund as a handling fee. I disputed this and asked DYU to provide the return instructions and explain the legal and contractual basis for the proposed deduction.
The return process was initially frustrating and caused unnecessary stress, particularly because of the proposed £200 deduction and the uncertainty around the return arrangements.
However, I can now confirm that DYU has processed my refund in full, with no £200 deduction. DYU also followed up with me regarding the matter and acknowledged the frustration caused by the initial return process.
I appreciate that the matter has now been resolved and that I have received the full refund. I have therefore updated this review to reflect the final outcome. My original concerns about the return process were genuine at the time, but I think it is important to acknowledge that DYU ultimately resolved the matter and provided a full refund.

I have disputed this charge and explained that I am exercising my statutory cancellation rights for an online purchase. I have asked DYU to provide the return instructions and to explain the legal and contractual basis for the £200 deduction.
At the time of writing, the matter remains unresolved. I am disappointed that a customer who contacted the company just three days after receiving the bike is being told that £200 will be deducted simply for returning it, rather than being offered a straightforward return process.
I would urge anyone considering purchasing from DYU to read the company’s return policy carefully and be aware of the potential £200 charge they may seek to apply to an e-bike return.

I bought one of DYU pro c6 electric bikes from a auction. The bike was boxed and unopened. Ive built the bike up and the wiring for the bike is completely wrong. I understand that not purchasing the bike directly from DYU there's no guarantee but I contacted DYU customer support and there reply was that because it wasn't purchased from them they won't help

Not road legal in the Netherlands and poor after-sales support
My experience with DYU has been very disappointing.
The website is misleading for customers in the Netherlands. The e-bikes are marketed without clearly warning that certain models are not legal for use on public roads in the Netherlands without modifications.
The customer service experience has been equally disappointing. The email address listed on the website either receives no response or replies only after a very long delay. The live chat responds quickly, but that changes when you ask for a return address. In my case, it took more than a month and several discussions before DYU finally provided return instructions.
The return address I received was in Poland, together with a Polish phone number that raised concerns for me. In addition, returns are not free if you just changed your mind. DYU charges between €100 and €200 in "handling costs", which significantly reduces the amount you can recover.
At this point, I have decided to cut my losses. Rather than risk an expensive and uncertain return process, I will have the throttle removed by a local bike mechanic so that the bike can be used legally. I have little confidence that DYU would process a return smoothly.
One final point: despite the Dutch-language marketing and website, DYU is not a Dutch company. It is a Chinese company, something potential buyers should be aware of before making a purchase.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend DYU.
Response from DYUSep 3, 2026
Hi Debbie,
Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for any frustration caused during your return experience and customer service interactions.
We would like to address your concerns to help clarify these matters:
Road Regulations & Compliance: DYU designs bikes for global markets, and we aim to provide comprehensive technical specifications on our website. As road legalities for e-bikes (such as throttle usage) vary across countries in Europe, we encourage riders to check local regulations before riding. We are glad to hear you are modifying the throttle to ensure local compliance, and our technical team is more than happy to guide you through any bike adjustments if needed.
Return Warehouse & Process: To serve our European customers efficiently, our main regional fulfillment and logistics center is located in Poland, which is why return shipments are directed there. We truly regret that providing the instructions took longer than expected and caused you uncertainty.
We continuously strive to improve our response speed and customer policies. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at [email protected] if you need any technical assistance or further support with your e-bike.
Warm regards,
DYU Customer Care Team

DYU CYCLE has ZERO customer service—Buyer Beware!
For anyone considering a DYU bike: their customer service is completely non-existent. If your bike develops a problem, you are entirely on your own. They won’t even reply to emails or messages. And they delete negative feedback while sending automated 'welcome' messages—hilarious if not frustrating. I thought they were just making honest mistakes, but it turns out they are cheating on purpose!
Buy at your own risk!
