The first time our rescue dog stayed at the vet, she didn't have a great time. We are the 4th home she had in 3 years, so I think she was afraid she'd been given away. My mom had tried Dog Vacay for her dog with good results, so I thought I'd try it. Our dog spent a weekend at Corinne's house with her 2 dogs and a cat and had a great time playing all weekend. So she'll be going to Corinne's house the next time we go out of town.

Well organized and run. Meet and greet is essential to getting to know your caretaker before the first visit. From there it only got better. Our puppy cannot wait to get there to either stay over or just for the day.

This is our second time with our host. The second time we dropped Bailey off she was greeted with a big hug. When we left she hardly looked back! This is a much better option than traditional kennels. Would never do anything else.

I was apprehensive about sending my two dogs to a kennel with lots of other dogs and crates, so I started to look into other options. Pet hotels can be very expensive and did not seem to offer a lot of one-on-one attention. Also, some kennels were rude to me about not wanting my cocker spaniel around other dogs (as per her breed standard, she does not like other animals). Also, I did not necessarily want someone staying in my home so, after all of these considerations I looked into DogVacay and could not be more satisfied. My dogs got individual attention with a great couple, they agreed not to take on other dogs as to not stress out my pet.I loved that it was not a 'craigslist' type setup, its comforting that DogVacay has vets on call, that they background check all of their people and that they offer them training courses and take on liability. I can not say enough good things about this service. I am so relieved that this is one less thing I have to worry about when I am going out of town.

The two DogVacay pet minders I have used for my dog have been outstanding and my dog has been very happy to see them on her second visits, which is a strong indication. I do think that the website functionality can be improved, as the typing of comments is clunky and you can't readily reply to your host when they send you a photo of your pet.
