Delta doesn't pay for anything. That's the whole idea of insurance. My wife needed wisdom teeth removed. They paid a pittance. Not even worth it. Then, of course they dictate to the dentist what they can and can't do. Screw them. Got rid of their coverage. Cancelled our plan. BUT, they keep charging US. Useless coverage.

Worst insurance company I have ever had to deal with. They pay nothing and the customer service is terrible. It is the only option with my employer but I believe it would be cheaper not to have insurance.

Delta dental began in 1966 after a series of mergers of dental companies. It's vast with 39 independent members in all 50 states including P.R and DC my experience has been mixed because while most dentists accept delta dental at least 95% have a negative word about the insurance especially 32bj delta dental. It's embarrassing! Most dentists ask for money upfront or credit card info before the appointment. At least in NY my experience. 32bj delta dental does have some dentists who accept and won't charge you upfront but not many.

Was told it would cover certain things and I had to pay 1700.00 out of pocket. It's ridiculous how much you pay for coverage and to find out it really doesn't cover very little

You will visit them, you will give them your own private insurance, and they will say that they do accept that insurance. Then they will do all sorts of random test they know is unnecessary or ask you to come back for a second visit in the same day. A month later surprise! surprise! You get a large bill for things that your insurance “did not cover” according to them. This was my experience. I will never visit them again.

They sent me an email on July 14th 9:17am saying your upgrade of plan is active now. Then I went to a dentist for a checkup. But later they refuse to reimburse anything by saying the plan wasn't start until 15th. I read the email to them and they insisted it meant on 15th. It reimbursed nothing in basic plan for nearly a year and upgraded plan for a month. The start of the plan is in the middle of a month and when I called to cancel it then the ending date has to be at the end of the month. They are robbing you at least half of a month's premium no matter what. If I had paid out of pocket without this plan I would have saved a thousand dollars of premium. Even if they pay every percentage they promised, it would be no more than the yearly cap amount, which is just a little above the yearly premium. Most dentist will give discount if you don't have this insurance, so unless your employer give you the plan for free, it's nearly no use and just a wasting of time. I suggest all employers give the money directly to their employee instead of paying for the insurance, this would retain the employee much more effectively.
