We reached out, and paid for a dedicated server. Shortly after making a payment we were added to a support ticket requesting that we provide not only a copy of our government issued photo ID but also a separate picture of our face. We were very much looking forward to using this service for our gaming community but this seemed very sketchy. We reached out offering to provide a copy of the ID alone if they could get us their privacy policies on how our data would be used. They refused and issued us a refund. I’m not sure what they are up to but I would be cautious before using their services.

Hi Logan,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. We truly value your interest in our services.
To ensure the security of our platform and protect our customers, we conduct several fraud checks during the payment process. Occasionally, these checks result in false positives, and legitimate customers may not pass our initial verification. Unfortunately, this occurred in your case.
When a potential issue is detected, our next step is to conduct a human review of the provided information to confirm the identity of the payment owner. This process is intended to safeguard not only our company but also our customers and the broader community from fraudulent activities.
Our request for a photo ID and a picture of your face combined in the same photo is part of this verification process. While many of our customers appreciate these measures as they demonstrate our commitment to security, we understand that this might not align with everyone's expectations.
We did not refuse or acknowledge any specific request; instead, the order was canceled and refunded as a precautionary measure per your statement that you felt uncomfortable providing ID and that you did not want to use other payment methods we offer that do not require verification due to the inconvenience.
Please be assured that our intent is not to improperly gather sensitive information but to maintain a secure environment. We also understand and respect your decision to seek services from another provider that aligns with your preferences.
Thank you for considering our services, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Don't use this hosting
They charged my card automatically, and I haven't even used the server. They offer no refund, so I trust them to go to other hosting sites.

AS
As
Fast servers, fast connection, no security, poor customer service
Pros:
Loved the fast setup. Low prices. Solid connection.
Cons:
Had an issue with the server caused by an OS issue. This was not a hardware failure, but contacted support anyway in hopes to find some type of resolution such as adding an additional hard drive to temp boot, using a separate ISO image or locally installed flash drive or external storage.
Contacted support, heard nothing for 6 hours. In the mean time switched to another service provider. Explained this delay is unacceptable in the ticket with customer service. Their response? "It's not high priority to us!" Ha! The ironic part is we wanted to switch all of our 117 servers to them, but after experiencing the poor customer service with the first server, paying them anymore is out of the question. I didn't expect a resolution, I just expected them to tell me my options. Even Amazon support does that on AWS. Even if a triage person told me "this isn't something we can help you with", that would have been helpful. I assumed with being a smaller company than AWS that they'd have faster response times.
Apart from the poor response timeframe, I felt treated like a end-user rather than an MCSE systems administrator. Too many assumptions made by them that had the connotation of making me feel like a user that wasn't worthy of their time.
Motherboard is nearly 10 years old, no recent driver releases. BIOS has multiple security vulnerabilities that remain unpatched. I asked if they wanted to know about any other concerns I had but they didn't acknowledge that either.
They referenced being an infrastructure host, but do not have many of the other features that other infrastructure hosts have, so the remote options for fixing a non-bootable server are limited.
You should probably only use them if you have several HA servers for ALL workloads or low priority servers.
Moved on because our company cannot depend on delay in support in case anything goes wrong.
Updated:
X10SRL-F motherboard was using BIOS version 3.0. Version 3.0a came out in 2018, latest version 3.4 came out in 2021. BIOS is outdated by 3 years.
The ISO for the OS was larger than the maximum IPMI 4.7 GB and that was mentioned several times in the ticket.
Thank you for continuing to question the customer, and nicely inferring that your customer is incompetent by stating they should have used an MSP and your team knows better what is "cost effective".
Reduced from 2/5 to 1/5 stars for ongoing "the customer is never right".

Hi there,
We sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations. We'd like to address a few points as we understand there might be some misunderstandings about our services, hardware, and support.
As an unmanaged service provider, our focus lies in providing reliable hardware, a robust network, and seamless access for you to manage your server independently. We don't take responsibility for the configuration or management of your operating system, as is customary for unmanaged hosts.
Regarding the mention of an unsecured BIOS and security issues, we want to clarify that this is not accurate. When servers are provisioned, we ensure that all BIOS and firmware are updated to the latest versions. Additionally, we have implemented an in-house ACL system for added security, providing an extra layer beyond relying solely on hardware vendors for firmware security.
Concerning your point about solutions to issues such as temp boot drives and ISO boots, we do offer a control panel that allows PXE into various live boot environments. We also provide 100% access to iKVM, enabling you to mount your own remote ISO files if our library doesn't meet your requirements.
For collocated and dedicated customers experiencing hardware failures, we offer the option of remote hands or a replacement server with the same or better specs at no extra cost when the issue falls within our responsibility. However, deploying remote hands for non-hardware-related adjustments, especially when the server isn't physically broken, may not be a cost-effective solution. We suggest considering managed providers for comprehensive support, especially when making OS-level changes that might lead to issues.
While the motherboard may be 10 years old, this information is disclosed at the time of purchase. Our servers are offered as an affordable solution for workloads that don't require cutting-edge technology. Comparing it to buying a vintage car, you knowingly accept the specifications and limitations of the chosen hardware.
Any security vulnerabilities found within the operating system are unrelated to the hardware itself, a distinction we aim to communicate. We acknowledge that you may have a technical background, and our support aims to address issues accordingly.
If you feel that your tickets aren't being addressed promptly, we do have a 24/7 phone line available. However, please note that we prioritize hardware and network issues, and while we strive to answer all tickets promptly, operating system-related matters fall outside our responsibility.
We appreciate your understanding and welcome any further discussion or clarification you may require.
Best regards,
SP

The provider is perfect for masochists…
The provider is perfect for masochists who love to be insulted in the support chat. RDNS support did not work on the server control panel, which support was unable to fix within 5 days. After 5 days of downtime for our product, I received not an apology, but an offer to update the RDNS through the support chat instead of the panel. Okay, I agreed to this decision, but after asking to update the RDNS in the chat, I received from a company employee a portion of insults and accusations that I was a scammer/spammer and their services were not for me, after which my server was canceled (thank you, at least the money was returned )
I am very glad that your employees use RDNS extrasensory abilities to determine everything about the client, but I expected to get a regular working server and not insults and almost a week of project downtime
I'm surprised that anyone even works with you

First and foremost, I'd like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and the experience you've described in your review. Our aim is always to provide the best service possible, and it's clear that we fell short in your case.

That being said, it's never our intention to make unfounded assumptions or be disrespectful to our customers.

I am deeply sorry to hear about the serious downtime you experienced, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. At Dedicated.com, we strive to provide reliable and uninterrupted services, and it is clear that we fell short of our commitment during this incident.
First and foremost, I want to assure you that we take downtime issues very seriously, and our team worked tirelessly to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. However, we understand that four days of downtime is unacceptable, and we deeply regret the impact it had on your operations.
I want to be transparent about what led to this extended period of downtime. We aim for complete transparency on any downtime that happens. In fact, we seem to provide more transparency than other providers who were also impacted (see https://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1899745). Bad service, bad attitude.
I'm in the process of scaling out my infrastructure to support the release of my product so I ordered an extra server in Chicago. The point of scaling out is to build up two Nomad clusters, one in Dallas and one in Atlanta for HA/redundancy.
Due to technical issues on your end in Chicago, the OS install kept getting stuck at 20%. I opened a ticket and Damian replied and said there was an outage and they were working on it. Okay, I get it.
The outage page he forwarded me said it should be back up within an hour. An hour went by, two hours, three hours... the whole day. I came back the next morning, still down and one 13 hour old notice apologizing for the delay. Remember, I'm needing these additional servers for fault tolerance.
Anxious to get my servers online so I can start testing, I looked into it more the night before and saw that there were two servers, slightly better than the one in Chicago so more expensive, and there was one available in each datacenter where my other two servers already were. So I purchased those and started the OS installs and replied to the ticket to ask for a refund for the Chicago server I was never able to access.
The next morning, I came back to find that one of them had booted up and was ready but the other one hadn't so I tried restarting it a few times and navigating through the site trying to figure out how to access it another way. Nothing worked. Same as the one in Chicago only this time it would get stuck at 60%.
I got a reply to my ticket later saying it was against the TOS to refund but I could get a credit. Okay? I mean, I was never even able to log into it because of the outage on your end but thanks for not making me pay for something you never gave me? Whatever, no big deal. I was polite and said thank you and explained the other issue with the server in Dallas.
Damian replies later and says "some have raid cards" or something to that effect implying that they were configured differently. This is another red flag. I don't want to have to deal with different server configurations in my CM tools and end up with a bunch of frankenservers and one-offs. I'm definitely not starting out that way. So I asked if it could be moved to a different box so they were the same and he said there were none left as "it shows on the front page".
At this point, I'm not only frustrated with the lack of progress I've made in the last two days and disappointed that my first attempt at scaling out my solid well organized fault tolerant plan that's been in the works for the last two years is off to such a rocky start, now I'm dealing with one of your support tech's attitude as well.
So I decided to cancel the two servers, one of which again, I was never able to log in to, and made sure they were cancelled immediately to free them up for someone else and politely asked for credit for them.
Damian comes back and gives me the "okay but this is the last time" speech.
Just so we're clear. I didn't just waste the last two days trying to restart OS installs and suddenly change my mind because I thought it would be fun. I backed out of those purchasing those servers from you out of lack of trust and satisfaction with your services. I wasn't even able to access them.
Now Damian seems to think this was all somehow my fault and I need to be taught a lesson and be careful about the rules of the TOS in the future. And I'm considering whether or not I want to continue doing business with you at all.
Response from Dedicated.comJul 31, 2023
Hello Donnie,
I want to begin by expressing our sincere apologies for the frustrations and difficulties you encountered during your recent experience with our services. We truly understand how important it is for you to have a smooth and reliable infrastructure, especially when you are in the process of scaling out your infrastructure for your product release.
It's disheartening to learn about the technical issues you faced during the OS install process, causing significant delays in accessing your servers.
Furthermore, I apologize for the confusion and lack of assistance you received when you tried to switch to other available servers in different data centers. Our support team should have been more proactive in understanding your specific requirements and assisting you with a seamless transition.
I would like to address your concerns about the server configurations. We understand the importance of consistent server setups for efficient management, and we take responsibility for any oversight on our part in explaining the differences between the servers. Your feedback will be used to improve our communications with customers and ensure that such issues are transparently addressed in the future.
Regarding the matter of a refund versus credit, I apologize for any misunderstanding. We want to make things right for you, and while we do offer credit as an option, we also understand your preference for a refund due to the inability to access the servers. Rest assured, we will review our policies and procedures to ensure better clarity and flexibility in handling such situations moving forward.
As for the interaction with our support representative, Damian, we are genuinely sorry for the perception of attitude and the "last time" remark. That was never our intention. We value each and every customer, and our support team is trained to be empathetic, understanding, and helpful in all interactions. We will conduct further internal training to improve the overall customer service experience.
Please know that we take your feedback very seriously, and we want to assure you that we are committed to making the necessary changes to address the issues you faced. Your trust and satisfaction are paramount to us, and we hope to have the opportunity to regain your confidence in our services.
If you are open to it, I would like to personally discuss your concerns and assist in resolving the situation to your satisfaction. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at [email protected].
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We genuinely appreciate your feedback, as it helps us grow and improve as a company. We sincerely hope to have the chance to restore your trust and provide you with the exceptional service that we pride ourselves on.

I ordered a server from them. The server was setup and ready to use instantly after payment.
The issues started about 5 minutes later. I was trying to install Linux onto the box, but the Control Panel is TERRIBLE. It has a automated installation for most operating systems, but if you choose Linux, the installer won't work due to RAID bs. It does not matter what RAID level you set it as, it is still not going to install.
I contacted Support about this issue, and they blamed it on that "I" messed up, when I did everything exactly as it should be done through the Control Panel.
They also claim "100% uptime" in their SLA, which is not even LEGAL! You can not claim 100% uptime. The highest you can claim is 99.99%.
And the worst part is, that you can not even GET A REFUND for the order. The ONLY kind of a "refund" is to account credit, which is not even guaranteed that you'd get due to their ToS.
This provider is complete bs to use. You'd be better off using something like Hetzner, OVH, Server4You or even CONTABO!
