Parcel held hostage over an unexplained "clearance fee"
My parcel has sat at customs since 3 July while DAI Post demands a SGD 75.71 "formal clearance fee" on top of GST. When I asked them to itemise this fee and provide the Singapore Customs permit reference, I got no proper breakdown — and Singapore Customs itself states it charges no clearance fee to release parcels, so this is DAI Post's own charge presented as a customs requirement. Replies have been slow, often days apart, while my parcel is effectively held hostage until I pay. I have no problem paying legitimate GST, but a vague, undocumented handling fee combined with sluggish communication is not acceptable. Would not recommend.
