Curable claims to manage & reduce pain. 6 months in, hasn't helped
This app's claim to manage and reduce pain feels like snake oil.
Curable touts itself as a way to manage and reduce chronic pain. It uses a psychological approaches to supposedly address the underlying cause (or fuel) for long-term pain: stuff like depression, anxiety and fear of the pain itself, or hyper-vigilance from things like violent trauma.
Curable's methods aren't doing it for me. My pain has not changed during six months of using the app. I've been meditating, learning, writing. The app says these "exercises" will re-train my brain to stop hyper-fixating on the pain, which only makes pain worse. But the techniques the app uses are what I'd call abstract and not helpful in any way. I'm frequently asked to picture myself in "stress free" places like the beach. Or to write a letter to someone I've been made at for a long time, but not to mail it. It's meant to be a therapeutic kind of letting go. It wasn't a terrible thing to do, but I also don't feel like it did anything to help me reduce my fibromyalgia and joint pains.
Curable claims many people find relief in 6 to 9 weeks. I'm now into 6 months of doing these things, and I don't feel any mentally or physically different. If I had known this app was going to be alot of deep breathing and mediation, I could have found a free app for that.

Curable just isn't working for me
Curable just isn't working for me. My pain has not improved at all over 4 months of use. They say don't expect pain while you use the app, because if pain relief is your goal then it won't work. Except the app is FOR pain relief, which is what I'm hoping and paying for. {$100 for the year during a "half off" special."} While I don't expect pain relief miracles after a few months, I feel like I have NO tangible tools or new skills to even manage or slightly reduce my chronic pain.
I've been doing one of their exercises daily, repeating alot of them (as directed.) There are 4 categories: Meditation, Education, Brain Training, and Writing. The Education sessions are decent. They explain how different factors (anxiety, trauma, PERFECTIONISM or workaholic issues) can contribute to chronic pain. But everything else has been absolutely no help to me.
The Meditations are useless, IMO. And they make up a huge chunk of how Curable works. A recent example had the title "Identity Mediation." The intro to the exercise referenced how chronic pain can impact or take over many/all aspects of your life: ability to work, socializing with family and friends, sleeping, finances/paying for Dr appts.) Sounds like a great topic, right? It's very relevant for me. But... the mediation then focused on visualizing myself as a tree. It tells me to just put all these pain problems to the side. Imagine having deep roots. Let all my problems just pass by , like clouds. Lots of silence in the session to think about... being a tree?
If I could just imagine all my pain and problems away, I wouldn't be using Curable. If it were that easy, I'd have no use for the app. But I'm here, and visualizing myself as a tree isn't providing me with any real resources. Previous Meditation exercises have had me visualizing myself on a beach, relaxing to the smells, sounds and sights. Or visualizing myself in a big control room with knobs and levers, where I can just turn down the pain with the controls inside the big room.
None of it has helped. I need real solutions here. Tips and resources for stress management, resolving anger about how pain has robbed me of a full life, recommendations for times when I'm anxious about high levels of pain and flare ups. They mention all of these under Education. In 4 months I've found no suggested solutions.
This isn't worth the $100. The money would be better spent with a real, live session with a human being like a therapist or a health coach. There is a whole library of recordings with therapists and doctors giving talks, offering advice, providing information. But you have to *pay EXTRA for those. A bunch of stuff inside Curable is behind yet another (internal) pay wall.
My advice on Curable: don't waste your time or money. I'm stuck with the bill for the entire year. I plan to cancel a month before renewal. I hope I don't have any problems with that. I refuse to waste any more money.

Do not get involved with this company
Do not get involved with this company. I had signed up for one of their special deals but canceled a few days later. The agent assured me it was available for the month I had paid for and I would not be charged again. Surprise surprise June 18 I get a charge for 206.94 for an unauthorized renewal. I am livid as I’m trying to get a full refund. It’s a fight with my credit card company and Curable. DISHONEST COMPANY.

I found this app an excellent tool in…
I found this app an excellent tool in my recovery. Easy to use, neuroscience explained in simple terms, backed by research, you can find whole new community who goes through similar situations like you, very very supportive in journey of healing. Explains how pain gets you in a vicious cycle of experiencing more pain if you don't retrain your brain and get stuck in a fear mode. Compared to other programs helping with chronic pain/ME/CFS I found this the cheapest and I'm very happy with resources which are available at the touch your hand.

I tried ot 3 times and it was not…
I tried ot 3 times and it was not useful. I thought I would have a monthly cancellation option, but they automatically charged me for the year. It seems to be a Money-grab to get you to try it and then not give you your money back. The app set up is hard to find the cancellation process.

Also, Vorsicht geboten!

I thought I canceled the app - Lost 144.00
I thought I canceled the app - when I hadn't used it in 1.5 years. I got an auto renewal charge and contacted them and they refused to credit my account for 144.00. :(

Rubbish, Avoid, impossible to get refund
Rubbish. Difficult to navigate; not helpful generic-generated info. Auto bills you and can't get a refund.
